I would so get it if they had a battery for it?

They're using desktop P4 chips in those laptops. I'd wait until Intel announces/releases theyr P4-Ms before getting a P4-based laptop...

The reason why they're doing this is so that you can get true desktop performance (except for a few things like graphics) on a laptop. The battery isn't put into the laptop. Instead it is a battery pack you carry around along with the laptop. The laptop is from the designers of the iBook. yuck!

Along with "true desktop performance", you also get "true desktop heat dissipation".
The major reason the manufacturer stuck a desktop chip in there is the lower price and perhaps bragging rights as one of the first to offer a P4-based laptop. Seriously though, most laptop components are slower than their desktop counterparts, so much so that I wouldn't worry too much about the differences between the desktop and mobile chips (P4 or P3). e.g. slower RAM, HD, video card...
And there's nothing wrong with the iBook's design. In fact the silver/white-ish things look pretty slick.
