    Monitors Comparison

Ok.. so I'm looking for a new monitor (i'm borrowing the current one) and I'm looking for a decent monitor under 400 bux. So I go to Best Buy, and am comparing these three monitors here any other suggestions?

the only real requirements are under 400 bux and at least 19".... thanks ya'll

I had a Samsung that was gorgeous. It was the 900IFT, rather than the 955DF, but there's not a heck of a lot of difference. I worshipped that monitor...

Stupidly, I sold it with a system a while back.

I now have an LG Studioworks995E. Cost me $178 shipped from Dell using one of their frequent coupons. Not a bad price for a 19". It's as crisp and clean as the Samsung was... but doesn't have the perfectly flat screen like the Samsung. Still, all in all, I really like it. It blows my wife's 19" Mag monitor out of the water.

Do you notice the difference between a 'normal' monitor and a flat monitor? I've got an older 19" montitor, and it isn't even close to the quality of my 17" (Trinitron) monitors.

I noticed the difference between my flat 900IFT, and the standard 995E. But after using the 995E for a while, it doesn't bother me.
I'd prefer a flat screen, but I'm not sure how much extra I'd pay for it. $50-$100 maybe? Probably not more.

But then, both of my 19" monitors have had excellent image quality. I've had no problems running either at 1600x1200. Both have been very crisp, even at that resolution. That matters more to me than whether or not the screen is flat. My wife's 19" Mag, on the other hand, is a mess at anything above 1280x1024, and I'm not sure I could even stand it for long at 1280. It looks like exactly what it was, a cheap, big monitor. My LG was pretty cheap too... but it looks like a much better unit.

Of course, I'd still love to have that samsung 900IFT back if I could...

I could care less what they look like at 1600...(no Offense) I don't put it at anything above 1024... I know.. I'm a heathen... but anything else, and I can't see/read anything..... I am thinking I will go with one of the flat paneled ones... maybe I should go to the store to see how I like them and what have you..

edit: made it a little nicer, since i thought it sounded mean

in the last few weeks, i've compared the visual quality of those BRANDS at Fry's..... i was very disappointed with the NEC and ViewSonic images. The edges around pictures/fonts just seemed blurry to me.

the Samsung probly had the best visual quality (next to the sony trinitrons). my pops got the 17" version (753DF - $150). it looks awesome, wish i had it on my comp. Only flaw of the monitor is the geometry -- the edges are not too straight, and the top/middle of the screen sags downward. (adjusting the screen dimensions doesnt fully fix this). If u can overlook this petty flaw, i think the Samsung is a clear winner for your money...
