Thread: Citibank Palm VIIX deal?

    Citibank Palm VIIX deal?

Has anybody went for the Citibank "open an online checking accnt" deal to get the free Palm VIIx?

Any ideas how I can do that if I already have a citibank checking account? (They state you aren't elgible for the deal if you already have a citibank accnt).

I read somewhere about closing one's account and just opening a new one online should work, but I haven't read anywhere if that's legit or whether it works?

My friend did this and he got his Palm 7x just fine. He did call them a couple of times to see where it was though. But he did get it.

    Brian,

I think the deal was posted on the main "deals" page on G|A, but I don't know if it's posted in the forums as well. Lemme look around and see if I can find it and I'll post the thread link...otherwise if you or someone else find it, could you post it up? Thanks.

    Akanah,

Did your friend also have a Citibank account before he did the deal, and just canceled it to get it? That's actually my main concern cuz I don't wanna cancel my account and go to all that trouble if I'm not gonna be able to get it. Thanks.

    It's not a sweet deal!

They reported the palm they sent you as paid interest. No good!

It works fine with the newest version of the desktop manager d/l from palm. Not sure about the included CD.

Note: If you're using it to sync it with MS Outlook, make sure you install the PC Mirror piece from the original CD after you install the Desktop Manager or it won't sync.

    cooljoe3000, thanks for the link.

And yes, I think if they are reporting it as paid interest to you, not only do you have to report it for your taxes, I think they also won't pay you any interest on the account that you open with them. Then again, checking account don't pay diddly squat worth interest so I guess it doesn't matter.

I used to have a CD account that give me couple hundred bucks per 90 days, nowaday I only have less than $100.. Not to mention my BoA regular checking have 0.25% interest...

So I think it's still worth it for $150 Palm with 3-month investment of $6000.. also they never mentioned any interest rate to me when I called them...

Anyone knows other promotion deal with Palm like m505???

    Yeap!

It's better for you to put $2500 in CD for 90 days to earn interest than having the PDA that worths less and have to pay interest for it not to mention that you have to pay $10 monthly service fee. It's just my opinion.

    American express banking

I use american express online banking (after wingspan got taken over by bank one and they started charging for online bill pay 4.95! and 1.50 fee for non bank one atms on top of the 1.50 the non bank one atm charged me)

They pay 1% interest, refund atm fees (6.00 a month), no charge for bill pay (not sure what the minimum balance is)..gave me 75 for opening with 2000 or more and another 40 for direct deposit - that's like a free M101
