Thumbs down SS: Getting a bill in the mail for $1300

you don't know how pissed I am about this....

I get a bill for "Welfare reimbursement", and that is on top of the $658 monthly child support I have to pay....

  2. #2

    whoa!

did you pay every month? I remember a time when you weren't working.
I would talk to a case worker (if you can) and provide ALL reciepts for things you have bought for Lil' Dopey. Sometimes they will deduct needed things from that bill.

I am paying the support for my son, not the second, but this in on top of all that, this is the free money she gets from the state, they are making me pay them back

That doesn't seem fair that you should have to pay back what she gets when you are already paying child support. I hope you get custody soon!

Dopey, $658 a month? How did that amount get chosen? I pay $315 for my son (only 12 more months left). I feel for you. I just got a part time job to try get ahead of my bills. One day I'll be debt free, just not tomorrow.

$658 was the % of my income that they decided ( that is for both kids ) 200+ for my sone and 350+ for the kid that is unconfirmed....

and that is based on my salery when I was making 11.27 an hour

    Ouch.

I might have missed this, but when did/will you get the paternity test on the "unconfirmed" kid? Or is it still baking?

oh... love how they make you pay more for the kid that isn't confirmed to be yours than your actual, proven son.... LOVE THE GOVERNMENT (this is my new sarcastic mantra, I swear)

Im with Nija, I was thinking this earlier when I read it. But I really don't see how they can do this.

    Angry That really bites

Dopey - have they proven whether the second kid is yours? How long does that take? I thought I remembered just about a week?

It doesn't seem fair for you to pay if he isn't yours.....

And help me, I'm slow - you are divorced, right? Why are you paying her welfare, again? Was this stuff from before y'all divorced?

    Hey - I'll tell you what - we can have a got|apex-a-thon!

No, seriously, y'all could spin the tunes - AMRIVLIN could hook you up, and then we could find some fun short game we could all play on-line. If we could talk WL into a larger picture we'd even have live musical accompanyment! We could get pitchers of our favorites, and pass around favorite bad for you , but oh so good receipes, and just spend a couple hours chillin', and donate the funds we would have spent out carousing to the Dope!

yes I am divorced, and well in Cali, when a woman goes on welfare, and she has a child, well they go after the father to pay that back to the state

I just stopped the allotment for my child support. My son is coming to live with me. My ex decided she didn't want him to live with her anymore, so she is moving into a one bedroom apartment. I'm sure her mom had something to do with this, she's a control freak.

He called me and asked if he could live with me. I asked him what was going on, and was told that his mom was moving. She called me a little later that night and told me that she was moving. I don't like the way she's doing this.

My son will be 18 tomorrow (1 April), and I was going to have to pay child support until he was 19, even if he wasn't living with my ex. I think that would've sucked to pay if he was living elsewhere. I told him he'll have to get a job when he gets here, so hopefully everything will work out.

    Geez!

Isn't there a lawyer in the house? Someone to get lil dopey back into dopey's home?

    Someone to work pro bono?

If not, I second the idea for the fundraiser for a lawyer for you, of course after you have maxed out all chances of loans and such.

I wish i would have known this on the other hand... would have been nice to have done that to my ex
