I e-mailed buy.com about my order status from the 50 off 50 order and look at the BS they gave me. Firstly, my order has not been cancelled. Secondly, on the clearance page they still show a stock of the phone I ordered available!

I was wondering when this order is going to ship. It was placed on 6/24
so it has already exceeded the usual waiting time. I will be going out
of town on July 9 so I wanted to make sure it gets to me before that
    date.

HOW IN GOD'S NAME IS HE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEM???! Did they or did they not enable a coupon that allowed $50 off $50 on their site? Yes. Do they still have stock? Yes. Have they told a mistruth? Yes. I don't understand this unfounded sympathy for corporate mistakes. A mistake is a mistake: too damn bad if you lost money because of it.

    Thumbs up

Dude, they didn;t charge him any money. So they are, in no way, bound to give home a free phone(essentially). If a guy finds a door, in your house unlocked, would you be pissed off if he came in and grabbed something? I think so.

To play it safe I ordered 4 cds, which after the coupon came to 34 cents. I figured that it is more likely that the cds would be in stock and that they would ship before they caught on. sure enough, got my stuff in record time.

    okay, to clear things up:
1)when i made this order i didn't expect to receive it
2)if they decided to cancel it and told me the TRUTH instead of some BS LIE I wouldn't be upset (although, I wouldn't be totally happy since many did receive their orders)

Well, as you know Buy.com just launched. The coding may not be as good as existing web sites like staples, because they are pretty much new to online sales. And the 50 off 50 was probably a problem with the coding which is now fixed.

Like I said, they are not like Staples or other companies who have had their web sites online for a while. When buy.com website says it's in stock, maybe it really isn't. I know staples have real time inventory for their web site ordering, but maybe buy.com doesn't. So, there could be a possibility that they are not lying at all.

Say what? Where have you been? Staples.com launched on 11/11/98. Whereas, "By June 1998, BUY.COM, the Internet's fastest-growing super-store, had successfully staked its claim as the Web's low-price, customer service leader."

Buy.com did not make ANY mistake! Just because it was enabled doesn't mean that it was a mistake!! YOU made a mistake when you thought you could use the coupon, which CLEARLY stated that you need a minimum purchase of $500.

Let me get this straight, we're complaining because an online company didn't allow us to rip them off? Is that what I'm reading here? Making sure. Maybe we should rename this board to GotAnandtech?

    You people make me sick!
How the F#@K can you possible bitch about buy.com not honoring an order that you placed with a coupon that clearly states $50 off of $500 (NOT $50 off of $50)!!
They have every right to cancel every order that was placed that did not meet the requirements!
If you place the order knowing full well that it's a hit or miss deal, praying that it goes thru - you have no right to complain when it doesn't!
If it goes thru, fine - if it doesn't, don't bitch!!
Either way, you're intentionally trying to rip them off!!

    Get a life!

Well I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I placed an order using a coupon. I think buy.com has every right to bill us for the coupon. Does this mean I am going to let them charge $50 to my account, not without a little effort. I am not going to fork over the money until I have no other choice. For all of you people complaining. Call up buy.com and speak to a csr and be nice, they will probably send you a return label.

ok folks, i am not complaining about the cancelled orders etc. here. What I am complaining about is buy.com's blatant lie. I now know for a fact that what I was told was wrong because I called and was able to order one of the same phones at the regular clearance price.

I would guess that this was just a mistake on the part of their CS staff (or maybe an inventory control problem). They've sent out plently of "sorry, you didn't buy $500 of stuff" emails, so I see no reason they would have to lie to you.

If you really want to know, why not call or email them asking them outright.
