To all you folks who toil in tech support...
You can add my name to the ID-10-T and PEBCAK list. I just got my new computer and after flipping the switch it wouldn't turn on. Called tech support and explained that the computer wouldn't start after I flipped the switch on the back of the unit
.
So the tech support guy says, "and what happens after you push the 'on' button in the front of the computer?"
/me feels about 2" tall..."oh, the button in the FRONT of the PC...uhhh, yeah, sorry 'bout that..."
And I used to laugh at the "any key" jokes...
now in my defense this is an alienware system and with all the goofy moldings, etc, that front button IS kinda hard to see, and there is no mention in the instruction diagrams about it... but...
So on behalf of all us idiots, I apologize for wasting y'all's time

no problem. our people will be over shortly to beat you severely...

Ha! I understand how it is dbax. I ordered this funky case for a computer I built last year. I put it all together and hit the on button. Wouldn't turn on. I checked everything. Tried again. Wouldn't work. I kept trying and trying to hit the on button and it wouldn't turn the hell on. I took the PC apart twice and put it back together without any luck. I was about to send everythign back when I realized I was pushing the reset button
They weren't marked and the on button was actually like a big panel that just looked like a molded part of the case. Man I felt stupid

Well, I paid a boatload. But I'm very happy
They put their tech support number in 3-4 different places, even on the system itself, and encourage you to call, and are very helpful - even with idiots like me. I received everything to spec, they include their QA checklist with the order, give you a full-color illustrated photo-poster with install instructions, a neat binder with support numbers, etc...
See, these guys know marketing - they carve a niche for people like me that don't care what it costs, just get a great system with outstanding support and a lot of bells-and-whistles.
