    CS high ping on broadband?

    a month and a half ago...i was pinging around 70...now when I get in a game...i'm pinging 800-1200!!! Still on cable modem...i've tried reinstalling the game...still bad pings.

    any suggestions?

    It may be the host. I know taht my cousin and I don't connect to each other very well. But he can connect to his friends just friend and the same goes for me with my friends.

    Sometimes I think people forget that it doesnt matter what bandwith you may have if the other end of the connection can't deliver. Occasionally you may run into some bad routing along the way to a server which I have on ocassion.

    for the past few days I've tried TONs of different hosts...none work well...

    i used to have anti cheat software...
    cheating death
    paladin
    punkbuster

    but I took all that off...

    Why don't you try pinging a server to see if the slowdown is in the routing somewhere.

    My guess is it's a routing issue between you and the server. This happens. Servers to which some people get < 50 ping to, I will get 200. These are servers that are located only about 100 miles away from me, which really isn't very far away. But other servers cross country I'll get 60 ping too. You're just going to have to find a server to ping well to
