    Question Glass...not plexiglass for a window....question

...I took apart a broken scanner and ended up with a really nifty peice of tempered glass-about 35cm by 25cm - perfect for a window. My question is this:

How do I mount it? If it was plastic, I could drill holes...am I relegated to electricians tape?

Glass would give it a slightly "richer" look but will make it heavier. Not too much heavier to you but the locking strip might not like the added weight its supporting. Also, the glass might be safety glass meaning if you try to cut it it will simply shatter (yes I kow from experience ) The present size might be fine but you won't be able to put a fan on it or poke any other holes in it. Obviously the edges of glass can be a little more dangerous but you could hit them hit a little sandpaper and take the sharpness off.

All in all dealing with glass is probably more trouble than its worth. Go to Home Depot and pick up a piece of plexi - it's fairly cheap.

Another thing about the glass -- you ever put ice water in a glass straight out of the dishwasher? Not knowing the quality of the glass could spell disaster, or at least shattering. The temp difference between the inside of a hot enough case and the outside environment is not exactly glass-friendly.

He said its tempered so that shouldn't be an issue

My fault, I missed the "tempered" part. That's why it pays to read closely. Although I think the range idea is even better!!
