The Rock in The Scorpion King!

Against my better judgement, I was talked into seeing the Rock in this movie.

I thought, "Hey, why not give it the benefit of the doubt? Maybe all that wrestling has given the Rock some acting experience..." Sadly, this movie was so bad, I don't know where to begin!

I don't want to go into everything, but whatever you do - wait for the video. It is not worth the $5-$10 to see it in a theater!

See what happens when you give it the benefit of the doubt?

In my experience, if you go in with low expectations, you can't be let down!
It is not enough to merely touch the face of god; you also must open your eyes so that you may see your palm.

    Thumbs down

I liked the Mummy Returns better if that says anything. I just saw it yesterday. Generally I liked how the Mummy I and II opens with a good backstory like LOTR to set the mood. Kelly Hu was good eye candy but the Rock isn't a good actor...his voice just doesn't "fit" into the movie. The story is weak...or rather how it was executed was weak. I think if they threw in more cheesy special effects it would have been a better movie experience. At least it can't be lower than Ishtar

saw the ROCK on Larry King Live of all places...and you know what?
I was impressed...the guy is pretty smart and carries himself really well...you'd never expect that from just watching WWF...

I think that is the reason people don't like this movie. When an educated person tries to play the part of a brute, something just doesn't fit.

I guess that puts an end to the theory that an educated person can act uneducated...

I've seen him in normal, regular interviews and I can't help but like the guy! I agree that he really does carry himself well - he's actually a pretty smart guy that just happens to be in the WWF. Unfortunately, it may take a little while for him to develop his "talent" even though he has the raised eyebrow-thing down already.

He's definitely not Ahhnold. I think he has the capability to act, he just has to get better acting coaches.
