Anyone know how to rewire a phone jack?

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew how to rewire a phone jack. I know how to rewire a standard phone jack, but the house is wired for up to eight lines and for some reason it apprears that the second line isnt on what should be the second set of colors. As such, if anyone knows the color combinations, please let me know.

    Thanks.

Typically yellow and black are set aside for the second line. Why not just check the main panel and see how they wired it?

The inner two are the primary line, the outside two are the secondary line.

The problem is that because of the multiple lines that the house was wired for (8 of them) and the fact that line two doesnt appear to be on line 2 (in terms of normal connections) I was trying to find out what the normal color pairs were for multiple connections. As in, if there was a lines 3 - 8. I figured if I could find out what color combinations signified other lines I could go through and figure out which connection is live.

    Thanks for your help.

Are you using RJ-45 jacks (8-conductor)? If so, take a look at this page. Look at the diagram for the 568A configuration:

An RJ-11 phone line has space for 6 wires, but only uses 2. Is this RJ-45?
