    health type question......

    Ok I don't really wanna go to the doctor....because I don't really know if I still have health insurence or not so I think I'd just ask all of you girls and see what you think is wrong.....

    Over the past like week and a half I started getting this really bad cough when I'm outside, and sometimes the coughing will have like a metallic type taste to it...if that makes any sense.....

    Yes I have my tounge pierced, but I don't think that is a factor, I've taken it out and dranken water and when I cough it's the same thing.....

    So any ideas on what the problem may be? or am I just a freak that is stuck with a metal type taste in my throat for the rest of my life?????

    How long ago did you get the tongue piercing?

    Have you checked if there's any blood in your spit? Blood tastes kinda metallic ...

    And find out if you still have health insurance ...

    Because someone didn't wanna be caught dead in the GGD forum ...

    Linkage

    Q: What would cause a metallic taste in my mouth?

    A: Most people have experience this at some point. It is such a distinct, pungent taste, you would think the cause would be equally distinct and easy to identify. I wish I could tell you that it was easy to identify, but actually, many things can cause a metallic taste in the mouth.

    You may immediately suspect that something metal would cause the taste, but this is not necessarily so. The human tongue is only capable of four tastes: sweet, salty, sour and bitter. The unpleasant taste we call metallic is probably a combination of sour and bitter. Here are a few examples of what may cause this annoying taste in your mouth:
    • numerous medications
    • vitamin or mineral deficiency
    • mineral supplements
    • cold, flu or other viral respiratory infection
    • lead poisoning
    • sinus infection
    • dental problems
    • polyps or tumors in the nasal passages or on the tongue.

    If the metallic taste in your mouth does not go away within a week or so, call your doctor to have the problem checked out.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Since you've been experiencing it for a few weeks, the upshot is still to find out if you have health insurance.
    i've had the same thing...usually lasts a few days...generally preceding a nasty bout of the flu or a cold. i wouldn't immediately point to the piercing, i have no piercings and i've been in your boat...i say give it some time, take some vitamin C and see if it goes away. otherwise, go to the doctor...health insurance or not, if this lasts a while, get it checked out!
    Welp, I'd suggest going to the doctor pretty soon, otherwise yep, you're stuck with it.
    Just checking, Doc Holliday.
    We can't determine the cause of the cough because we're not medical professionals. That DrKoop article points to all sorts of possibilities, from vitamin deficiencies to infections. So unless you're gonna tell us that you've been gobbling up silverware at a breakneck pace ... go see a doctor!! Actually, if you do tell us that, you should see a doc too.
