    Personally, I dont think you can go wrong with either ABIT or ASUS.. Just depends on what you want included on the board.. I am not a fan of much of anything included... But whatever works for you.

    I use the KR7A-133R and love it.

    I would go with Epox or Shuttle

    I really don't know about Abit boards though....

    I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

    ASUS = NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

    I'd get the new Abit board the AT7. I think it has the most features out of any board. If you want performance/value, I like Soltek or Epox.

    After ASUS neglected to include a CMOS reset jumper on the A7V133, they totally turned me away.

    I have never used abit so i can't comment on them but i've had very good experiences with asus and epox. In fact my asus has been running for 4 years with no problems (its been running almost 24/7 this past year)

    I've tried ABIT, ASUS, EPOX and Gigabyte. Currently I'm running EPOX 8KHA+ and it gives a solid performance.

    IMO, don't ever go with Gigabyte. THEY SUCK!

    I just got a new board and CPU. I'm running a Abit AT7 Max. not a bad board, if you're willing to ditch the legacy. But, if you're not, then most any current board by abit, asus will do. Even MSI and Shuttle, Chaintech and Tyan boards are generally pretty problem free.

    My new box has the MSI KT3 Ultra ARU and I love it. Rock-steady, 4 USB 2.0 ports and the on-board 6 channel sound is surprisingly good. Two thumbs up.

    Bur,

    If you are only couple the motherboard with PC2100, I highly recommend EPOX 8KHA+. no video, no raid, jumper free, i think it has built-in sound but just use your own sound card. I'm using live! value no problem.

    chosen,

    I haven't had any gigabyte motherboard for P4 yet but from my experience, thier customer support sucks. i used to visit their newsgroup quite often and saw a lot of negative feedbacks from different people. Perhaps gigabyte has changed ever since but I only spoke from my experience. By the way, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Maybe I'll give them "another" try when I build a P4 system.
