    VCR Problems

After hooking up my Samsung VCR (it's a few years old, and I hadn't used it in a while), I tried to play a tape, and all I got was noise (as if you tried putting a blank tape in, and the timer would not increase. Rewinding or fast-forwarding the tape doesn't even change the counter, although it sounds like the unit is in fact rewinding/forwarding the tape.

I've tried a few tapes now, and all of them are exhibiting the same thing. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately VCRs are now throwaway items if they have any problems. Because it costs so much to fix these items, it's not worth it. Just junk this VCR and buy another one (it'll be cheaper with more features). Welcome to the wonderful world of obsolesence!

OK, what's a half-decent 4-head VCR then? Seriously, I don't know what's out there in terms of VCR's anymore (this unit is a 4-head, and "used" to work very well).
