    Question Imaging your HDD?

    Alrighty Yall,

I have this habit of reformatting every couple of weeks or so. I was wondering what software I should use to image my C:\ on Blank CD's.

If I image my C:\ then if I reformat my computer and load the images in... will it look JUST like it was when I imaged it?

    By the way...

I'm using Windows XP Professional as my OS.

    Thanks

I've always been a fan of Powerquest's Drive Image program, although there are many users who swear by Norton Ghost.

Drive Image can write directly to CD-R, or can create 650MB image files if you wish.

Finally, after a restore, your system will look identical to the way it did when you created the image.

Norton Ghost boots off a floppy, so it's compatable with many different partition types. I usually ghost my drive to a CD-RW, because I ghost the drive periodically to keep the data current.

Alrighty.... I got myself GHOST 2K2...

Now I have no clue what I'm doing...
    This is what I did...

First went to Norton Ghost Boot Wizard...
    Put a Floppy in...
    Chose CD-ROM Bootdisk....

Now I couldn't figure out how to boot w/ the floppy, so I booted up w/ an old Windows 98SE CD... and went to command prompt (Win XP Pro is my OS)

Then from there.... I loaded up the Ghost program off the floppy...
Then I thought things were going dandy because I some how managed to start recording my C drive to CDR's...

But THEN.... If I kept the program running w/ out doing anything... my monitor would just shut off.. just after hearing a series of beeps from my chassis speaker... and it would stop recording (my light would go orange from red)

THen if I hit any key.. it would go back to the program and start recording again...

    What am I doing??????!!!!!!!!

I used Ghost 2002... but whenever my computer is idle while it's burning a cdr... it beeps a few times.. then the monitor shuts off... and stops recording... then when I press any key... it goes back.. and starts burning again.

Has anyone ever come across that problem?
