nSS---I am retiring in two weeks

June 28 is my last day at work... I can't believe it.
I have been working since I have been 12, delivering papers, driving ice cream trucks, delivering pizzas, polishing floors, even a short stint at McDonalds (2 weeks, ha ha). I worked during college (Co-op jobs) so that I could pay for tuition.
Most people don't have the luxury of retiring at my age, but they offered a buy-out at work, so I am grabbing it.

Way to go. I can't wait to retire. In about a hundred years.

    How old are you?

I hope you're not younger then me...

What are your retirement plans? Golf? Travel? Fishing?

CONGRATS! Now you can take it easy for a while, you deserve it!

    Thumbs up Congratulations!!

Do I remember correctly that you are with "the new HP"?

I think it is really wonderful that you are taking advantage of the opportunity. My dad retired early (at 52) and has loved it. He did have some adjustment pains, trying to decide what he would do next! After all, it is entirely possible you have another 50 years ahead of you!

Congrats again - have fun - you earned it!

Thanks for all of the kind responses. I am 55..ARGHHHHH!!!
I have a lot of old cars that I am going to try to finish..cars that I started to work on but never had the time to complete.
They include a 64-1/2 Mustang, a 68 Corvette, a 57 Chevy, a 79 Mustang Pace Car and a low rider 83 Chevy Stepside pickup, plus lotsa projects around the house.
I hope that these projects don't overwhelm me, but if they do... big deal.. I'll just stop and rest for awhile.

I'm hoping to be retired by then too... but first, I need to find a job...

I don't intend to leave Gotapex. I may have less time available on-line, though.
I don't have a really big stash or any great investments. It just so happens that the pension plan at work is so generous that I will be receiving over 60% of my income. And I won't have to pay into Social Security and all of the other deductions I normally have to contribute. Plus, Pa. doesn't tax pension programs and neither does the township I live in. That adds another 14%. So, I will be receiving approx. 75% of my take home pay.
I was never married, so I don't have any ex-wives or children to support, just my Kitty Cat. Plus my house is paid off.
Man oh man...people my age are really jealous!
