I'd rather watch soccer on Telemundo anyways. The commentators seem much more excited about the game. Plus there is that patented... "Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooaaal!!!" Instead stead of a Korean announcer saying, "Goooooalie!"

it's so awesome to be in seoul while the world cup is going on. people were going nuts last night! i got my whole korea team fighting gear from the red shirts, to the red bandana, to the huge korean flag to wear as a cape. hahaha. the korea/italy game was awesome! dang. the crowds were crazy. driving home was hell, but fun as people were celebrating like mad. i tried to take some pics with my camera, but i don't know how well they looked. will post when i come back this weekend.

Haha... James you should buy some more of those jerseys and sell them on eBay. But then, since you're in Korea, you may be buying knock-offs. The jersey might say "FEEFA World Cup KohreeaJapahn"

hmm...methinks i should wait till the world cup is over to buy one of these babies. the price should drop by then....unless korea wins it all. then i'll never be able to get it at a decent price.

want me to bring you back a knock=off yong? i'm going to itaewon today. or at least my parents are and they can get one. i was thinking about getting one myself too. but i'll see how much they cost at the official FIFA stores as well. i actually want a swedish jersey since it matches UCLA colors, but oh well.

officiating wasn't ALL that bad. italy played dirty a lot. but the koreans weren't playing too hot either. their ball handling is a lot worse than the italians.

you know, i'm all for cheering for korea and all, but don't yall think they're bein a bit obnoxious? i dunno, it's kinda sickening how far they'll take this "korean pride" bit, as if koreans didn't have enuff problems with pride as it is...

and yes, for those of you who don't know, i'm half korean, so i can say these things...

are you fluent?... do you know your korean history?... i'm 3/4 korean and a 1/4 german... i'm fluent... and have taken many classes on korean history... once you understand our history... it will be much easier for you to see why we are so proud... and as for all the partying cause korea won... please understand... we just went from NEVER winning a world cup match... to being in the finals... and we did it by upsetting some of the top teams of the world...

i'm not fluent any more, but i lived there for five years, so i used to be. as far as history is concerned, i know enuff about it to understand what you're talking about (the other half of me is japanese, after all).

no, i completely understand korea being excited about the world cup wins and all of that; don't get me wrong, i'm just as excited about it as the next guy. but i just don't think that necessarily justifies their being obnoxious about it, especially when anti-american sentiment is a big part of it, and quite honestly speaking, i'd have to consider myself more "american" than "korean" at this point.

For a moment there I thought this thread title meant North and South Korea were at war.

I totally agree with you there... americans have truly helped korea... maybe not always for the better... but we can't deny that they helped us get to where we are today... I was watching the korean news... and it showed some demonstrators protesting the US game... and I was really upset at it... especially when these people actually physically attack the Americans that were attending the game... i hate ignorant people like that... freaking annoying... and the whole time... the Americans stand there... and take the abuse... made me proud to be born here... I mean... if the Americans attacked back... it would totally be justified... but they stood there.. and took the abuse while saying "we love korea... we are friends"...

yeah, well, hopefully events like the world cup will be seen more as opportunities to foster goodwill amongst the nations than as some sort of fierce competition. competition is good and healthy, but not if it incites bitterness or ill will across the borders...
