Fred said 18,000 points when he showed Ella Enchanted, but he didn't actually say how many for the other two.

If you put in a code and it works, then it's confirmed, eh what?

Even when I physically see them on the TV, I don't think they're confirmed for sure until they actually give me a green box and points.

The movie tickets are 2000 pts. Ella Enchanted is 18,000 pts. That's all Fred mentioned this time.

    Wink Chargers Tix

**Update** Nevermind, they put up 10 more pairs of tix at 10 a.m. for only 15,000 points! A bargain given that the face value is $59 a piece!

I knew they would put up more tickets!

Foxaddict, we (those of us who have been posting here for a long time) are 'confirming' the codes and trivia that newer members post to ensure everybody that the codes are valid. Look back at the rules from Fatwallet.com Jontas posted yesterday and you'll understand more.

Good luck everybody, and thanks for the heads up on the free stuff. --Ben

    Confirmation of Codes

Jeez bendogg, give me a little credit. I know what 'confirming' means... the question was how do you confirm a code.

To me it means you put it in and it works.

Confirming a code means that you personally heard it or saw it on TV. See, 'cause if you put it in a it works, it still might not be a valid code. It might be a fake one to "catch us".

At least that's how it's done over at FatWallet.

I find it kind of annoying to see the "confirming" posts, but it's the best and safest way to run things.

Could someone PLEASE tell me HOW if I put in a code and it gives me points it could be a "fake" to "catch me"? It all sounds a little paranoid, sorry. And, if the Couch Potato folk have the time/enery/knowhow/desire to do something like this, then this program wouldn't be worth it to me. Guess that's the rebel in me or something

    Tongue Call Me Naive...

I was under the assumption you had to see or hear a code before posting it, and out of courtesy (and to make sure I remember it right) I always put it in before I post it to make sure it's working (and if it isn't, I post that too.) I also like it when poster identifies where the code came from (e.g., FITM, Disney, Weather Trivia, CCU, newsletter, etc.)

As far as trusting that posts aren't fake plants from fox trying to trap those of us who share codes... it's not an invalid concern. :monkey: Sharing codes is expressly forbidden by the CP rules & restrictions and planting a fake code would be an easy way to target code sharers.

I hope this will answer some of your questions. First, when you sign up for couch potato rewards or any of the many other reward programs there will be a statement that sharing codes is prohibited and could be cause for account termination. The people at Couch potato know about these forums. And yes, by getting codes from this forum, you are breaking these rules. I know there has been at least one instance where someone at fox6 has posted a code on this forum and the code was a bad code. Of course the code worked. If it didn't, everyone here would have been tipped off. But the code had never been given out legitimately. The only way someone could have entered that code was if they got it from a forum, thus was cheating. About two weeks after they posted the code, everyone that entered it lost their account. Not fun if you've put a lot of effort into this. IMHO that is why it is always better to be cautious. If the rebel in you thinks that some caution is not worth it to you, you may feel it's better for you not to participate in this forum. If you can deal with a little bit of this paranoia, welcome to the forum.

I agree. Unless you physically see the code for yourself on TV or website, (ex. SDCCU) than you shouldn't post the code. I have heard of administrators posting legitimate codes in advance to check who inputs them before they are ever on TV. Thus figuring out where they got it from. Remember, the codes you enter and the time you enter them are well recorded under your transactions page.

I think I will just go back to taping the shows and taking my chances that the codes haven't expired by the time I get to play them back. I would HATE for someone from Channel 6 to think I was ripping them off!
