I have an athlon xp 2500+ ... aren't you glad you know that?
I only have 99![]()
hehe.. you can't set over 200 names on ur buddy list.. at least not until they up the limit. The way i've gone around this is just make another SN.. and run two buddy lists off your computer. Search on google or something for a program called AIM+ . It will let you remove the ads and tweak your AIM to put what you want on it. There is also a cloning thing which will let you run two instances of AIM on your system. 400 SN's!!! woot!
woops.. forgot to say.. you can actually run more than just two if u like.. just keep on cloningOriginally posted by NuTs62

Don't know about the popular part. Most I've had online on one buddy list was around 48? Of course given that some have 2 AIM SN's running that is on my list, and some of the people from one list is the same on the other.Originally posted by Freelance Superhero

I enjoy having two list because: One SN, anyone w/ my SN can IM me. The other one, I only allow people on my list, keep away the weirdosWorks great

How bout tinkering with
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\America Online\AOL Instant Messenger (TM)\CurrentVersion\Buddy\MaxBuddies
On a similar note -
I have AOL IMer icon within IE. How do I change that shortcut to access the AIM+ executable instead of AOL's AIM file?

A priest, a paladin and Varimathras walk into a bar...
Tried the regedit thingy.. and it says c8 as the value... any suggestions on what I should put to up it?
It shows a number for me (Win2K Pro)

C8 is the hex value for 200. If you want to set it to 300, try using 12C. Worth a shot!Originally posted by Heihachi

It's most likely due to the AIM server-side size restriction than anything on your end. If AOL has the server set to only allow for a certain number of buddies, even if you were able to add more locally, the server would not store them.Originally posted by SnowSurfer

yes that does seem to be the case very wierd i wonder why aol does not us to have more than 200 buddies...

i'm guessing tha though 200 buddies for a single person may not take up too much space, since everything is stored on their servers, multiply by the millions of users, it takes up a bit of space. It may take up too much of their bandwith..? I dunno..Originally posted by SnowSurfer

i think aol has a conspiracy against us so that we dont talk to more than 200 people at a given time...those bastards....and aim is acting stupid again today. i dont know why but it wont refresh and it takes like 15 minutes to show someone new signed on. what a idiot thing
