I am pretty sure that I got the Klez virus from Morpheus, so I stopped using that. I loved Audiogalaxy, but I believe that no longer exists. I gave up looking for anything that might work.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

I use KazaaLite and Direct Connect now.

Kazaa Lite can be obtained here: www.refosearch.tk or www.kazaalite.com

Direct Connect can be obtained here: www.neo-modus.com or was it www.neo-modus.net .. If you decide to use this one, send a PM over to coleslaw.

I haven't had any problems with viruses. I think there was a warning about it. Don't download any "file downloaders" or some crap like that. Try setting your thing to search for files that are at least like 50k or so big. I always have my NAV running.

I've used WinMX before, haven't used the new one, but I heard it got better.

Morpheus, from what I've heard now contains spyware. I'm not sure if they've actually released their final edition. Last I checked, they were still on the preview edition. I didn't like that too much for many many reasons.

Ya, cleanclients is really cool, too bad they are under attack from everyone. Kazaa Lite (I use) has no spyware. It's essentially Kazaa with hacked dlls to remove the spyware.

The makers of Kazaa and Grokster shut it down, since they were alledgedly stealing the Kazaa code. Ironic, eh? The makers of Kazaa getting all up for someone stealing THEIR stuff...

the kazaalite.com site still provides one link to download. didn't try though. the refosearch.tk site still works though.

1.7.2 is out, and it says there is better virus protection, and fixed a rare vulnerability. newest version of speed up too..? eh.. shrug..

I believe you hafta specify a server. click on a link thats provided on the list if you wish to try and join their public servers. Theres a more private one that exists. PM coleslaw for further details.

if I remember correctly, that was it. Uhm.. do you have a firewall? If so, in DC, put your IP address in the connection configuration. In your firewall, open port 412, or whatever else you set in DC. Either that, or you can click on Passive mode, which works, but isn't the greatest. Causes some difficulties in transfering stuff.

Remember early fall '00... a prog named Scour? Man, do I miss that program. I never get d/l speeds of 500k/sec on cable or T1 anymore. That program was the best. Damn RIAA, hope they get DoSed again.

I used AG before it got really popular, and just as it was going down. Didn't like it either time. Maybe I shoulda tried using it in its prime. But as for selection, there are MANY places with wide selections. Just takes a lil bit of lookin

Overall, I think KazaaLite is the best right now... no ads, fairly reliable dls. Direct connect is pretty good, but I hate the GB mins you have to meet. My c:\winnt is only that small...hehe

    PM coleslaw.

and PoloM1, go to www.refosearch.tk they might tell you some strategies or what not to avoid getting 'em. Most of the viruses come in the "downloader" files, from what I've heard.

I use I-Mesh but I hate the ad-ware that's been popping up left and right. Oh well.
