    looking for ~45" 16:9 TV

Help! I've recently moved and the wife and I are in need of one or maybe two TV's in the new place. We've decided the living room needs one around ~45" and the bedroom suite heeds one ~40". I know very little about TV's, and have no idea why tube may be better than RP, or what my options are. Basically we're looking to spend ~$3000 or less for both. I saw a recent deal posted on gotapex for a 56" for $1800 shipped, but have no idea what the specs meant and if this was a good deal. Also, 56" is too big, so figure something smaller should be even cheaper, right? So if you can educate me on what to look for and where to shop, I'd appreciate it.

Start here to figure out exactly what minimum size you should be looking for:

There's a Panny 47" version of that 53" one we posted a little while ago.

    are you serious apex?

those 'optimal size' calculator thing is bit of an overkill imo.

my 36" is fine - even if I'm sitting 10'-12' from the screen...

that calculator's telling me that I need a 63" screen....THAT is overkill imo.

anyways....if you are sure about those sizes - yeah...do a quick search on the deal pages for onecall (seems like apex's fav retailer for tv's).

Yeah, those are recommendations for an optimum theatrical experience. I've found going smaller is definitely watchable, but definitely cuts down on providing an enveloping experience.
