Need some opinions on this iPAQ deal

I hope this is the right forum, this question doesnt fit into any forums really.

I am looking at getting a handheld with Pocket PC installed. Right now I want the iPAQ 3835, and it retails for $549 (after $50 MIR). I saw on zdnet that a site is selling remanufactured iPAQs for considerably less ($424.99), and they have a factory warranty. Here is the link:

So what do you think, it is worth it to pay more and get the non-remanufactured iPAQ, or should I try this remanufactured one (they say it does come with a factory warranty.)

    Thanks deal GODS!!

honestly, i wouldn't pay more than 250 for a handheld. I can't speak for everyone, but for me the coolness factor faded away pretty quickly. The functions i still use an organizer half the price can do just fine.

Here's a page you might want to read before dealing with that store.

As for the original question of refurb vs. new, I've bought refurbished items and I would say more often than not I've had positive experience with them. I do think that when you're dealing with a refurb, you want to make extra sure that the company you are buying from is reliable and honest or you may have a tough time getting service even if it arrives DOA.

I think I found a better deal, $399. DIRECT FROM COMPAQ! Screw dealing with these flaky dot com businesses.

I've heard that a lot of the iPAQ 38xx have had a lot of hardware problems. You might want to wait for the new ASUS handheld. Looks reaaaally nice.

The 3845 @ Costco is $499.99 (though I got mine for $250 ). That is normal price. It is new and you get Costco's warrenty of "Bring your receipt and the item and we will exchange it or give you yor money back". There is no timelimit on returns, either.

What kind of hardware problems? I have a 3845 and its all good.

That Asus one looks good, but it would be better if they started out with a better cpu. Compaq already has the 400Mhz Intel PX chips in their 39xx series. Those have built in Bluetooth, but built in GPRS would be the advantage that I see so far. I'm waiting to see the price, too.

Got any info to fill in the holes for me?

I don't know, as I can not find info about either one on Compaq's site that tells me what the differences would be.
