Damn that really sucks. His band was just starting to pick up popularity. I wonder if they'll stay together?

A tribute to him for those who haven't seen it. Large file, but worth it for the awesome pictures/footage.

that's sad.
i really thought that drowning pool was one of the better bands in that genre, and had more potential than a lot of the stupid wanna-be hard rockers littering the airwaves.
drugs kill.....what can you say. it reminds me of the lead singer of sublime and shannon hoon of blind melon, dying just when they were starting to "make it".

Damn dude I wondered what happened to them. When did that happen and how or what drug?shannon hoon of blind melon
i believe it was heroin, circa 1995.
edit: according to this site, hoon died on October 21, 1995 in the back of his tour bus, of either a Cocaine or Heroin overdose.
also, reading through some of the commentary on his death, my earlier comments that Blind Melon was at the cusp of "making it" were incorrect. actually, it appears that Melon peaked earlier (1993-1994) and was sliding toward oblivion when Hoon died.
still, a tragic death of a talented man. it just makes me angry and sad to look at the amazing performers of the "grunge" era (the music that orignally turned me on to rock'n'roll when i was in high school) and see how many of them lost their lives because of substance abuse![]()
