NV30 not shipping until Feb. 2003?

Delayed products, more interested in special effects than framerate. FIRE ALL THE FORMER 3DFX PEOPLE WHILE YOU CAN NVIDIA!

Pretty evident getting this part out has been problematic. The switch to the .13 micron fab process has not been going well. And perhaps the part being so complicated is playing a part. Maybe its both. We'll find out someday soon.

Wonder if this means the value, cut down version of the NV30 is still going to come out during 1st quarter. The mobility NV31 will be. And 3 different versions of the NV30?

As for the NV28: will the NV28 come with a clock increase? The GF4 Ti4600 is not overclocking much from what I see. Or is it just an AGP8X GF4Ti? Will Nvidia pull a surprise? Something to ponder. One other thing: there won't be an AGP8X GF4 Ti4400 version. Apparently Nvidia wants more of a gap between the NV28 GF4 Ti4200 and NV28 GF4 Ti4600 version.

If this release schedule is accurate Nvidia is going to stay 6 months behind ATI. And may even fall further back considering ATI's pace.

Nvidia is now in the position of having its new cards one upped shortly after by ATI's new cards. Up until now it was the other way around.

One final comment-the title has been changed from Nvidia to ATI. Its been slipping for a while and now its happened. It began with the Radeon putting people on notice that ATI could compete. Then the Radeon 8500 came out and it was equal footing time.

^^Excellent points. Amazing how fast things change. It wasn't all that long ago that there was Nvidia and nobody else. I've always liked ATI better on one level cause they're Canadian and so am I. I'm looking right at Q2 of next year cause that's when I'll be doing my next upgrade. (If I can get a job after school is out.) ATI should have the NV30 killer out by then.

Ladies and gentlemen, videocard users of the world, pay no attention to these scurrilous rumors that the NV30 will be coming out in February. The NV30 is still set for a December paper launch. Don't worry you will have a NV30 box just in time for the holiday season. In the meantime buy a lovely GF4 Ti 4600 to tide you over.

Interesting that WIRED just did a feature on the founder of NVDIA and his philosophy is that meeting deadlines is the surest way to success in the microcomputer market. Good read.

Nvidia focused too much on Xbox development and thus fell behind. M$ should have given them enough money to do both.

Looks like it will just be a refresh of the GF4 this fall. I think they will hang on, though. If nVidia does go the way of 3dFX, who will come up and jump on ATI like nvidia did to 3dfx and ATI did to nvidia?

Nvidia won't be going the way of 3dfx. First they got plenty of money. 2nd they got good business sense and are a tough competitor. And finally don't forget a company doesn't have to dominate the high end of the market to make money.
