    Need help with user permissions

    I am setting up .Net Server as a primary domain controller.

    I cannot figure out how to allow users to gain access to burn CD's when logged on a XP Pro client workstation. It tells me the ability to burn a cd needs to be enabled by the admin.

    I have enabled the ability to backup files to the user group who needs to burn and I also enabled admin and interactive users to format and eject removable media.

    What else needs to be done to get this to work?

    Uhm, first question. Why are you using RC1 of .NET server as your Domain controller?

    Second, I have RC1, but I havn't screwed around with it yet.

    yep

    right now we are using samba on linux as a domain controller, but the burning issue is an issue with that. Most of the staff who know how to administer the linux server will be leaving soon, so we figured an MS product would be easiest to learn the basics.

    I personally would prefer an office of macs with an X serve, but i am one of the people leaving soon (december graduation!!!!)

    Still doesn't explain why you are using a Beta Release over Win2k?

    ok, check it out:

    Control Panel - > Administrative Tools -> Local Security Settings

    Then
    Account Policies -> Security Options

    And make sure "Devices: Restrict CD-ROM access" is Disabled

    so it was an application error and not an access error...?

    BTW which build of .net are you running?

    .net DC's... pretty ballsy if it's your corp enviroment (vs a lab)
