Puppy Wanted

Hi! If anyone has puppies available, I would definitely be interested. My boys (ages 2 and 3) have been waiting for a long time to get a dog. We are finally able, since we have moved; so I told them I would try.

I might have some pitbull pups for sale. Great blood lines and are family dogs.

Thank you for the reply. I am not too sure about a Pitbull though. I have just heard so much bad press about the breed. The dog is going to be for my 2 year old and my 3 year old. Do Pitbulls deserve the reputation or is it just a case of bad press?

Mostly bad press - Bull Terriers are great dogs as long as you take the time to train them correctly. They ARE more aggressive than say, a Golden Retriever or Irish Setter, but proper training is all you need.

A friend of mine says that she is considering selling her full-bred (no papers though) Golden Retriever because she doesn't have time for it. (whatever)

Nicki is a beautiful, friendly and loving dog. Her coat is reddish. She desperately does need training though, but she is VERY smart. We live in Los Angeles. She's about 10-11 months and she has not been spaded. she's already pretty big, but at least she's almost out of the awkward puppy stage cause that stage is a LOT of time and work. She also has all her shots.

Just FYI, the concern here is that she goes to someone who will NOT change thier mind later and just give her away or put her in a pound. We want the people who take her to want to keep her and love her through her lifetime.

BTW, golden retrievers are great for kids because they love everybody and are not aggressive at all. They aren't intimidating and have a perpetual smile on thier face.

No offense but pit bulls are not to be around small kids. For that matter neither are char peis, chows, akitas, rotts, etc.
There are nice and mean dogs but you would trust a childs life to a dogs logic. A child hits the dog or eats something the dog wants and its on. Dogs also get jealous and behaive erractically at times.

My dogs are 40 -70 pounds, Jin Doo. Very protective, well trained and very affectionate but I would never leave a child alone with them.

Something small from a friendly breed is best for a first dog.
If you can handle larger dogs than Golden retriever and Labs are two of the best. Generally protective and very affectionate breeds.

Another option is the pound. Those dogs saved from the pound seem to understand the deal. The ones Ive seen are usually pretty well behaived. My next dog will be from the pound.
Last thing is just like Jeff said, its mostly in the training. Just like raising kids, if you take the time to teach them chances are they will turn out better.
