    Laptop Graphics Upgrade

I have a Sony Vaio PCG F809k laptop which was top of the range 18 months ago when I bought it. I didn't think about playing games on it until after I had bought it and of course it only has an 8mb graphics card. I have yet to find any help with upgrading this as it seems laptops are not upgradeable in this way, but SURELY there must be a way? Help! I can't play GTA3!

    thanks

    Sorry -

There are almost no laptops that have upgradable video cards. The only ones that I have heard of are the ones that use the mini-PCI cards for video, and I think those started shipping less than 18 months ago. You're probably out of luck on this one.

    Angry

Damn, that's what I thought. I guess I'll have to "drop" mine and claim on the insurance to get a new one!

    Thanks.

Thats unethical. If you drop it, you better hope they dont offer to fix it instead of giving you money.

Knocking a few bucks off a pizza is one thing, stealing a 2000$ laptop is another.

Have you tried playing any games on yours, yet? You have the GeForce 2 Go, right?
It is not enough to merely touch the face of god; you also must open your eyes so that you may see your palm.

(Although I already know that it would be useless in playing UT2K3... )
Yeah, I wouldn't buy a laptop for gaming either... but it would be nice if it could handle it.

Yeah - they are one of the companies that use the mini-PCI cards in the higher end models.

Not to make you all jealous, but I'm running UT2K3 on my Precision 840 laptop, and it blows away my desktop's performance...

The 840 has the GeForce4 Go with 64MB, and baby do the games look good on that!

Yeah I was just joking about dropping it and claiming, I'd hardly be likely to post here about it and then have them find evidence of my fraud eh?

That's funny, we've just had a similar case here (UK) where a guy bragged about cheating on his girlfriend. What an idiot. Check out the story here http://www.snopes.com/sex/tattled/luxton.htm
