Is MP3 Playback Possible on XBOX???
Hey all. Trying to justify the purchase of an Xbox to my girlfriend and was taking the DVD playback angle. Current DVD player is 1st gen RCA and I would like to upgrade etc..
The question is whether the Xbox can do audio CD playback (which I imagine it does) and MP3 playback (which I have no clue). If the Xbox can do the MP3 playback, I can seal the deal and get the console! If not, it just makes my sales pitch a little more difficult.
If you know one way or another, please reply to this post ASAP since there is a pretty good deal at BestBuy with the DVD kit bundled....
go for the best buy deal with a free controler and 19.98 dvd player "upgrade" with the 30 mail in rebate. 189.99 is a very nice price. Or you can check out www.passwird.com (when it gets back up) and get in on the gamespot(?) 139.99 deal where the unit is a refirb, but garunteed to work.
I am very tempted for the 139.99
no mp3 playback but cd udio yes.
You can't play MP3s on the XBOX, though what you can do is rip standard audio CD tracks and store them for playback on the XBOX's hard drive. It compresses them with what I would assume is WMA.
ribitch -- I think what you were refering to was Gamestop.com, an online game vendor. The cheapest I found on theirs was $180 and free controller extensions HERE
I'm almost certain GameSPOT.com doesn't sell games/consoles; they just review them. I'm getting more and more inclined to buy an XBOX... I haven't gotten a console since Sega Genesis!
