Not a deal, just really cool contacts

Ever want some really cool contact lenses??

How about the ones used by Vin Diesel in the movie Pitch Black..
Check out LensQuest and click on the Theatrical Special FX..

AHHAAH sounds like I'm doing an infomercial.. No seriously, I was doing a search for the Riddick contacts from the movie Pitch black and found the website.. They have some cool stuff.. good stuff for Halloween.. Too bad the "Mirrored" contacts are $150.... EACH.. heh.. I'm still getting them tho.. I just have the need to freak my grandparents out..

Sorry if this post does seem like an advertisement.. just thought I'd share my findings.

FDA warning on decorative contact lenses

    -----------

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- U.S. health officials Monday warned Americans not to wear colored contact lenses being sold simply for decoration and without a prescription or a professional fitting, saying the lenses present serious risks of permanent eye injury.

The Food and Drug Administration said non-corrective, decorative contact lenses were being sold directly to consumers at flea markets, convenience stores and beach shops, adding that marketing may increase around Halloween.

"Consumers should understand that decorative contact lenses, like contact lenses intended for correcting vision, present serious risks to eye health if they are distributed without a valid prescription and proper fitting by a qualified eye care professional," FDA Deputy Commissioner Lester Crawford said in a statement.

The FDA said it had received reports of corneal ulcers associated with wearing decorative lenses for longer than recommended. Corneal ulcers can rapidly get worse and lead to infections if untreated. Uncontrolled infections may lead to corneal scarring and vision impairment. In extreme cases, this can cause blindness and eye loss, the FDA said.

The FDA also alerted officials to detain all decorative contact lenses at U.S. ports of entry and said the agency will seize any lenses being marketed in violation of federal law.

Something else to consider. Optomitrists are required by law to provide you with your eyeglass prescription if they test you for it and you request it.
They will not provide you with a contact lense prescription if you ask for one, unless you get them to agree to it before the exam.

My optomitrist agreed, and refused to provide it after I paid them. They claimed that they never agreed to it. It is income for them and they are not going to let it go. So I just went and got Lasik done and invalidated that prescription. Screw them, I don't do business with people who lie to me. So get it in writing.

Oh, The prices there are kind of high. You might try LensDoc for a better price. You will probably have to go to the manufacture's site to wiew the specific lenses, but you should be able to get a better deal.

    Get a prescription first.
