Thread: cheap airfair?

1. #1

Post

I'm planning a trip to Salt Lake City next January or February, and right now it seems like airfair from here (Minneapolis) is really expensive - $376 bucks is the cheapest I could find. Does anyone know how/where this poor little boy could save some money??? It would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. - If it helps at all, I can be flexible on departure/arrival times.

Thanks in advance!!!

Sometimes, Lowestfare.com has deals that the other travel agencies don't. Also, check Southwest Internet Specials (although I'm not sure they go to Minnesota).

I usually check
http://www.flycheap.com
http://www.biztravel.com
http://www.travelocity.com

Sometimes the airport you are flying from is a hub for a particular airline and you can check their web page for fare info.

yeah, thx...

It doesn't appear as though Minneapolis to Salt Lake is a very popular trip...

NVM about the $376, I musta misread that or something, caus the best non-3 stop flight is $405. What a pain man, I'm not made of money.

Do you guys think that prices will go down at all??? Caus $405 seems pretty high considering I'm doing this far in advance.

You're probably doing it too far in advance. Airlines drop prices when they have a good sense of how many seats they will be able to sell at each price level. At this point, it's too early for them to tell since most people don't buy domestic tickets six months in advance.

That said, you'll still be looking at a higher than usual price since Minneapolis is largely controlled by Northwest.

It's the Land of the deep baby. Alta is the king of powder skiing, and powder skiing is something I yearn for.

Wait, scratch that, skiing there sucks, don't ever go there, goto Colorad or something. I like skiing my own lines!

I know it's sad, but I think of this trip every single day.

Alta sucks. It's the cheapest lift in Salt Lake, but the @#$%s don't allow boarding. Go to Snowbasin - Shorter lines, better snow, increase my profit sharing. And stay at Little America and buy Sinclair gas while you're at it - I need a new house.

Seriously, though, Snowbasin is starting to rock now that they've put a few million into new lifts, runs, and facilities. I just hope they don't actually rename the place Sun Valley, Utah.

Check out digitalcity/yourtown.com for travel deals. They list some great daily specials.

Also TravelZoo.com lists many specials.

Gomez.com has a travel section for rebates if booked through their site.

Check out Frommers.com and Fodders.com for listing of consolidators.

And don't forget to apply for Airline Miles. Your actual miles flown, combined with on-line booking incentives, swithching long-distance phone companies, credit card deals and other free offers listed at MileageWorkshop.com can usually get you a free round-trip ticket, even with only one flight.

Hope these help. Good luck and happy vacation(s)!

heh, jclark yeah, that is kinda the point. I have NOTHING against great snowboarders, but I love the fact that Alta is all for the skiers. I enjoy snowbird too, and they allow snowboarding.

You honestly can't say the snow is as good anywhere in the US. Alta has the best snow, period. That's not a bias oppinion either, All the ski magazines agree to.

I'm glad you enjoy snowbasin, that just means there is more competition around, and competitition is a good thing.

If I snowboarded, maybe I'd check out Snowbasin, but since I ski I'll stick to Alta/snowbird/brighton as I'm used to those already.

You have to admit, if you were a powder skier, you'd say Alta is your best choice.

For some reason, I feel like the post I just typed makes no sense, and is completely random, and I appologize for that.

Thumbs up

You can also sign up for the airline deals of the week. Every Wednesday they send out emails telling you the weeks specials. They have some great deals.

Check: UsAir, AA, and Delta. These are the one's I have used.

I don't know why all these celebrities are all woried and stuff all of a sudden. My goodness, the first crash in over 20 years I think I heard. This plane is rock solid.

Wussies.

I'll fly on it for goodness sake, I bet the chances of crashing are still less than flying on a 727 or something. People are worrying morons.

p.s. nice joke.
