    Religion

I felt really in touch with the Lord this last Sunday and it made me think...whose else here has a religion? No, I'm NOT going to preach to you...what you do is your business, not mine. But I'm just curious. I bet it's something that has already been said, but humour me!

By the way, I'm what people call "Mormon", but I prefer to be called a Latter Day Saint.

But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
    A different side of me
I'm not crazy i'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how i used to be"

If you had to slap a label on me, I am "Agnostic".

I see an absence of "god" as a the most likely scenario, but I do not discount the possibility that there is some sort of "higher power". However, I do think that if there were some sort of higher power, it would be nothing at all like the one(s) envisioned by most organized religions.

Personally, I think it would be concieted for me to pretend to know what "god" is.

I leave you with a poem:

A man said to the universe:
    "Sir I exist!"
    "However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
    A sense of obligation."

    Agnostic.

I know someone's is after me. Just don't know who she is.

I used to call myself a "Fundamentalist Christian", but then fundamentalism became synonymous with terrorism, intolerance, gay-bashing, abortion-clinic-bombing, and all kinds of other nasty stuff.

It used to mean you stuck close to the fundamentals of the Christian faith (basically you believe the whole bible.)

Now I guess I have to call myself a non-denominational Christian. Granted, we attend a church that is part of the Church of God denomination of Anderson, Indiana, but that is a pretty loosely organized denomination.

I was baptised Catholic and later became a Born Again Christian as a youth with my parents. I guess after taking interest in science I began to question a lot about religion and since have become very skeptical. Don't get me wrong however the scientific theories of life make equally little sense to me, but I just can't believe in scripture that was written when people were scared of comets and solar eclipses. To me it's no different than ancient mythology, it's only people trying to explain the unexplainable. Today when people claim to have been spoken to by God, they are taken away in straight-jackets and given a good dosing of Zanex. I do believe in the spirit of living creatures but I couldn't tell you where they go after death, but I'd like to think they return to the Earth as energy of some sort. Take a good look around, is this place not heaven if you take the time to notice the smallest details of what exists.

I come from a Catholic family, but my parents fell out with the church a few years before I was born, so I've never been baptised or gone to church (well, I went once with a friend because I slept over sat. night, but that doesn't really count). It certainly did influence my upbringing, though, so even to this day I tackle the ideas of faith and meaning over and over in my head. I am certainly spiritual. I have toyed with Bhuddism, Taoism, as well as nihilism, atheism, and agnosticism. I still cross my chest for good luck before attempting dificult or dangerous activities, and have felt the presences of the great creative entity (being? force? who knows?)surging inside me and warming me from within in a moment of revelation. I would never presume to label it anymore, though. I guess I'm more of a spiritual philosopher. I limit my belief to the idea that having faith that the universe has some meaning somewhere is important to being happy and healthy. As to what exactly that meaning or explanation is, I think I get more out of pondering the questions more than placing faith in any one answer.
Common sense is what tells you the Earth is flat.

I was born Christian in India, yes 2% of India's population is christian. We are brought up very religiously there, everyone goes to church every Sunday, the format is almost identical to Lutheran. I dont think I'll deviate from it ever in my life.

We'll have a "christian" marrige so to speak. We asked her Bishop to marry us and he said yes. He probably will talk about God, State & Church as being integral parts of a marriage...which I have no problems with.
The downside is that we won't be getting married in a LDS temple. So I we're going out of our way to decorate the hotel real nice so that it sort of makes up for it.
Yes she is. She hasn't been to church as much because she works most sundays, but we have prayers before meals and such.

Catholic by birth and upbringing but I'd say my believes are more in line with the eastern orthodox. Unlike most Catholics I believe in Prima Pares with the other 4 Patriarchs and I am for allowing priests to marry and I also endorse the orthodox policy of drawing Bishops, Metropolitans etc from monks rather than parish priests. I support a union of the two apostolic churches only if the issue is resolved by an eucumenical council.

I guess you could say I'm and eastern orthodox trying to change the catholic church from within.
