Kids are cruel & what would you do if........

Its a torrential rain...your child is going to the mall with friends after school ( junior year girls )...a split decision was made by one or all, to leave your child behind, stranded & standing in this monsoon for an hour while she tried to find a ride home via cell phone...Wet would be an understatement !
The following day, two of the "friends" call to apologize...one says nothing...hours later the very same "friends" are at your house to "hang out" with your child like nothing happened.
Do you, as a parent say something to them or put your pasted smile on your face, contain your need to slap the crap out of them & ignore it, chalking it up to " kids are cruel, deal with it"...

well, i would say that i guess it depends......

as we all know, kids (especially teenage girls who are trying to prove themselves in some sort of social setting....ok, well, teenage guys for that matter) can be extremely cruel, but also extremely stupid.

so i guess i would say to watch the relationships and try to figure out if this is a regular occurance or was it a one-time thing? i mean, kids do mean/stupid stuff to their friends for bizarre reasons with no harm intended (i once dragged my friend behind a car as he hung on to a rope. but he asked for it. honest no, really....it was all in the name of academics )

but if you see this kind of behavior happening on a regular basis, then i would say it's time to talk to your daughter and kindly suggest that she find some "true" friends. after all, you don't want her to end up in a situation where she's being "used" or "abused" by so-called friends. but you also don't want to make too big of a deal out of one incident.

of course, i'm not a parent and i'm hardly qualfied to be an adult, so take everything i say with a grain of salt

btw, welcome to the forums, hunny

Hmmm, I'd probably say something, but then I have a big mouth!

That's gotta be a tough one. Glad I don't have kids. Of course you'd like to be able to talk some sense into the girl and help boost her self respect. But on the other hand every kid usually goes through scenarios like this. I know I did. Unless this is very common behavior, and you can see she's continuously being abused, I'd chalk it up to the teen years for now. Besides, she's at an age where nothing you say is right and you don't understand anyway, right? I'd let it slide unless it seems to really affect her happiness and/or behavior.

I'd hunt them all down in unique and interesting ways, a spawn various sequels that aren't as good as the first one. Eventually fans would clamor for a meeting between Jason, Freddie and myself, to find out who is the most psycho.
