My one dog is terrorizing my other dog

We have two standard poodles and for some reason the male has suddenly taken an INTEREST in his sister. Fortunately, the female has been fixed, but the male is intact because he is a show/stud (or is supposed to be if he ever passes his temperment test).

Either way, she doesnt like his attention and keeps attacking him to fend him off. We keep putting him away and pushing him off her, but the second he is out of our sight, he tries to get busy. So Melanie, the female, keeps coming up to hide by me and he follows her. Come to think of it, I better go see where they are now.

Hmm, thats interesting...when you bought the pup did you show an interest in showing/studding? I don't know "poodle" circles very well, but most Golden show breeders will only sell "pet" puppies w/Limited AKC registration, meaning you can't breed 'em. If you want full registration they will charge like 5x the fee, and then they are very particular about who the pups go to.

I don't mean to presume, if you are serious about showing/competing etc...then go for it! But it is very expensive and takes a lot of time, and its hard to make money studding w/o CH titles. If you just want a pet...SNIP 'EM, and problem solved!

Will someone educate me in the reason that the dog can't go under the blade to be a show dog?

Yeah, well we have full AKC papers. It probably helps that the breeder is a family friend and as such we get special exceptions. First off, the other pups all went for $800 to $1000 plus, with very stringent rules. The dogs couldnt be fixed or bred, the breeder only let the dogs go to exceedingly qualified owners. If the owner was going to get rid of the dog, it had to go back to the breeder. All sorts of things like that.

Second, because the breeder is a family friend, when one of the dogs came back fixed and was in need of care, we were given our dogs sister. Both of our dogs, actually go to the breeders house to play with their mother and siblings.

Finally, we have been training him and he has been certified for his eyes, hips, etc. He has been going to shows, etc, and the only thing else he needs is his CGC (Cainine Good Citizen) before he is allowed to go in for full shows. As for CH titles, his line is full of titles. His father, uncle, and aunt have all been featured in magazines and national tv shows. Once he gets his CGC it will be easy for him to win his CH, as he wins all the local practice shows.

The dogs must be completely intact to be shown. Its because the dogs are supposed to be the epitamy of the perfect specimen of the breed.

For example, with poodles...black standards are supposed to be completely black and not have any white hairs on them. Some breeders will actually dye their dogs if there are any white hairs.

So if you are the perfect specimen...you are gonna have your balls.
