Has anyone taken this deal and if so, do you get to keep the scale after cancelling the no-risk trial?

I took advantage of it, and yes, you can keep the scale!
I signed up about a year and a half ago, canceled, kept the scale, sold it on eBay for about 30 bucks. As my eBay volume grew and the wait at the post office got more and more annoying, I signed up again, got ANOTHER scale, but this time I'm sticking with it. The extra money is worth the headache at the post office. The USPS should proovide this service for free, but that would make too much sense, and common sense and the post office don't get along. Anyways, between stamps.com and FedEx.com, I never have to enter a post office, which I consider a huge blessing.
You're not punk, and I'm tellin' everyone...
If you just use the Post Offices "click and ship" feature there's not extra fees at all...and now that you've got the scale, you should be all set
That's what I'm doing now, and it works PERFECTLY!
enjoy...

Oh wow. My USPS bookmark is set to the postage calculator so I didn't even see that! They finally wisened up. Thanks for the heads up Rich!!!

So they don't enforce this, from the terms and conditions?
"If the plan that you select includes a free scale, such plan must remain active with Stamps.com for at least one full billing cycle to avoid being charged a fee of $50.00 to keep the scale. Alternatively, you may return the scale within thirty (30) days of cancellation to avoid being charged for the scale. Details of how to return the scale will be provided via email at the time of cancellation."
they didn't enforce it with me....
their software didn't agree with my printerso i didn't manage to use my free postage

I'll give props to the USPS anytime I can - they're cheaper than UPS or FedEx (in my situation as I don't need pickups) - they're faster - and when the occasion arises I can print my postage online without ANY extra fees at all!
PLUS - if I print online I get free delivery confirmation as the transaction number - SWEEEETTTT!!!

too bad their software still sucks, plus you can do the same at usps.com for free, and even get free delivery confirmation as well... i'd been hoping their new build for "netstamps" would be good, but it's just as bad as the others, not to mention you still have to buy their labels, unless you plan on printing directly to envelopes, which cancels out the whole netstamp advantage... that said, get your free scale, print out your free stamps, and cancel before the 29 day trial... and good luck getting credits for misprints, another issue they've yet to deal with in 3+ years of service
Can you print out all of the $25 free stamps and use them even after you cancel--or once you cancel the unused stamps are voided?
i agree, their software SUCKS. it refused to work under any circumstances with my usb printer![]()

Could the people who signed up for the stamps.com deal and cancelled before the 29 day period and kept their scale, tell me when they cancelled.
Because I did just sign up for the deal a few days back and in the small print like posted above it says that account must remain active 1 billing cycle. I read here that people who cancelled during the trial period actually got to keep their scale, I just wanted to know when you guy cancelled, like one day before the 29 day period or right after, etc., any details in regards to this that will help me keep the scale would be appreciated. Thanks.
yeah you can print out a $25 worth of .37 cent stamps, but i dont think they give you enough labels to print that many... and while netstamps dont have an expiration date, be very careful when printing them, mine came out all misalligned... and yes, you can keep the scale, office depot delivers it 100% free next biz dayOriginally posted by ladybegood

best thing to do is burn thru the $25, get the free scale, then cancel ASAP after that... and be sure to cancel through the software, it's a hidden option within the help menu and will ensure any billing stops dead in its tracks!Originally posted by ju421019

Will I be able to keep the scale if I cancel within the 29 trial period. Thanks

Thanks, I got the scale today by USPS mail. I will cancel in two weeks, thanks again fellas, hope I get to keep the scale.![]()
received shipping label samples and free scale ~3days after ordering. no obligation. software works with my Epson C60, but crashes often in WinXP Pro. I'm going to look into this USPS.com printing after I use up my $25
itedin, let me know when you cancel, becz i remember that during the small print it said must be active 1 billing cycle to keep the scale, but since people have been able to keep, that'll be a sweet deal.
I cancelled about two weeks ago, a few days before the billing cycle would have started. No request to return the scale, but also no finalization email. Almost immediately after i closed the account (via the software), i received an email stating:
I'll let you know when i get the final email. We are currently processing your request to close your Stamps.com
account and have stopped your service as of 01-22-2003.
You will be charged the final service fee for your account within
the next 15 to 30 days, and you will receive your final account
statement via email at that time. Your account is subject to the
full service fee for the current billing cycle.
Question: When you guys use USPS's click-n-ship service, where do you drop off the packages? There almost always a huge line at my post office, so i don't want to wait in line to ask. There's basically two slots: stamped mail and metered mail. Is click-n-ship metered mail? Do you guys just use the collection boxes on the sidewalk?
Thanks,
James
I cancelled day of expiration, but it didn't process the following day. Bastards are trying to charge me for service. Fortunately, I used Amex private payment so they can't charge me. I need to call stamps.com to settle it.

I warned you!
The ONLY way you should cancel is through the software directly...
Don't count on those minimum wage call center reps to do it for you!
I cancelled in time but got a notice from them that they will charge me for scale ($50) unless returned. Think I managed to fight it--but only after multiple calls and hassel. Remember sign up form,at least used to, say that must be there for full billing cycle or must pay for scale. Possibly terms have changed since.
I signed up 12/30/02. Got the scale, used the free postage, canceled via web site 12/29/03. Got confirmation email and haven't heard another thing from them!
A good deal involves a sale price, a rebate, or a coupon. A great deal has two or more of these!!!
Well, i got my final statement today showing a balance of $0.00 and no mention of returning the scale.
Looks like a good deal, as long as you stay on top of the cancellation date.
As I wrote above, first Stamps.com tried to charge me $50 for the Scale since I cancelled within tthe 29 days. After talking to Supervisors--two times, each time the Supervisor agreed no charge, only for Stamps.com to then charge me again.
Now they are saying that I will be charged for the $15.99 service fee--even though the statement itself shows that I cancelled on the 28th day. What a Pain!!![]()
Sorry.
Considering how many times the Stamps.com deal has run and the few people who have posted problems, i meant to say it seems like a good deal ... backing it up with my problem-free experience.

I also was billed even though I cancelled on 28th day. When I called to resolve today, I was told I had to return scale... they said it's in the contract. I went back to stamps.com and looked at the ad for free scale and 29 day free trial... it is extremely misleading, doesn't mention anything about having to return scale. After arguing for a good 10 minutes with supervisor, he finally told me I could keep the scale. I referred him to the misleading ads on website, and recommend he make a footnote about scale... it's rediculous.
