Summer snowboard deals???

C'mon guys, even though it's summer I know that there are some shredders out there. I bought a new set of skis about eight years ago, thinking it was going to be a heavy investment, especially since I was getting into advanced skiing and wanted to own my own equipment. Gave them to my father as a slightly-used "gift" two days later when I had my first snowboard lesson because conditions were too slushy for skiing. Never been back ever since.

The problem is neither has my board. I have an old beat-up Burton Air that is just dying to be retired. But I figured that my freestyle bindings could stand a little more mileage. Looking for a solid board, was drooling over the Burton Supermodels and Balances last year but since it was the end of season, figured I'd wait it out. Anyone know of any conventions / pre-season sales in the LA area? Know that there is a Razzle ski convention, but anyone know the info? Sorry for the length of the e-mail, any help greatly appreciated!!

The nature of the snowboard industry is to have sold all last years models by spring of following year. In other words.... all of the 2000 year boards (last years sleds)should be gone by feb-march 2000. Shops buy their boards in Sept-Oct (2000) for the following year(2001). Thats the way I understand it anyway. The best deals I've seen lately have been on flea-bay. And there have been some AWESOME deals going down too, compared to in season. The pre-season shop sales usually start here in Seattle around Labor day, but the deals are not as good as ebay!! Good luck!!

Have you checked your local shops? The shops I go to usually still have a few boards in stock and will give a pretty good discount, ~30% off. About 3 years ago in August I got a Morrow Todd Richards and bindings for under $400, the board alone costs $430. Since you want to keep your old bindings you will most likely have to get another Burton for them to be compatible, just something to keep in mind.

I've found the best deals are in September and January, so you might want to wait.

Yeah - go to http://www.gear.com - they sell closeouts & last year's stuff for cheap (all types of sporting goods), plus shipping is only $0.25/item. I've bought from them before, & they're great.

I got a board for my girlfriend and another for me from mountainzone a few months ago. Haven't seen any deals since then. Still looking for some boots for the girlfriend.

Most shops have put away their winter stuff. Usually you won't see any more deals until fall when they try to clear it out again.

if you're near the bay area, go to tricity sporting goods in fremont--about a half hour drive from either oakland or san jose----they have a whole bunch of winter stuff at 50% off this time of year. not just snowboards but skis, boots, and clothing. they deal in very large volumes and will blow things oout of the store at huge discounts all year long

that's not the only place that is really cheap around here, so if someone out there lives in an area where you cant find exactly what you are looking for, or you dont find a good deal online, let me know what you want, i might be able to find it for you and ship it to you at a better price. i also have friends in the industry and have access to a limited supply of stuff through them.

know of any friends with sponsorships in major board co. (burton, k2, palmer, etc.?) Would be interested to get a deal. Unfortunately I'm in the LA area, so driving to Fremont is a bit of a stretch. Also looks liked I missed the Dazzle LA ski convention by six months!! Shoot. Thought I would save a bundle by buying in the summertime. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks a bunch.

Hey Hanyoung, Peter Glenn Ski and Sports in Newport Beach just had a huge tent sale last weekend and all of their snowboards were 50% off. I think that the sale prices are still available. I got a new pair of K2 Yak boots for $150. They had great deals on all of their gear.

yeah, i know someone with sponsorships from some of the big board companies...ME. I snowboard for the ucla team, so i'm in your area and i get great deals from K2, Burton, Northwave, Drake, Airwalk, and most of the other big ones. Unfortunately, i only get my good deals during the season, but they're still better than off-season prices; i got a brand new board and bindings from airwalk last december for a total of 325...and when i checked the price on the exact same board at sports chalet just after the season ended, the board alone was selling for 450 or so something and the bindings were still going strong at 175, so i got about half off of spring prices...and during the season. Just remind me that you're interested around october, and i'll get you a good deal.

I've made piles of dough selling snowboard (and some ski)stuff on ebay that I pick up at discount outlets in Los Angeles. Since I'm moving to Seattle soon, I'll turn you on to my sources. Ski Dazzle is pretty much wack for good deals on the best stuff. check out option #3, which could be your best bet for what you are looking for.

1) Sports Chalet outlet in Montclair. used rental board for $50, w/ bindings for one hundred, some in great condition. I've bought 8-10 1988 fatbobs there for $50 each.
They also have many new boards drastically reduced, and they have a half off sale (one the already cheap new boards) early in the Fall. All the rentals are in the back right now, waiting for this event. They have many boots too.

2) Chick's Outlet in Yorba Linda. Supposedly they will get the chain's fleet of last year's rentals sooner or later. I've bought several in great shape for $29.95. Call before you go and ask how many boards they have because often the cupboard is bare.

3) Atomic Garage in Pasadena. If you want to spend a bit more dough, they have many sweet brand new beautiful burton boards for about 1/2 msrp, and some great deals on boots, bindings and gear. High end shop with well informed staff.

4) try mountainzone online -- I got a limited 169 for $33 delivered. that was a great sale and coupon ...

5) at the beginning of the season go to sportchalet's ski swap at the individual locations. lots of the shop staff and industry types sell well cared for personal boards

i've heard of neversummer, butnothing good. i usually have hookups on lamar and forum stuff. i did get a burton rippey for $150 recently and that was a keeper. now that i know you guys are interested, i'll post when a good deal comes along. i usually get a board that was ridden once or twice for a hundred and something, they dont care, they just get another shipment the next month

Yah, please do post snowboard deals as you come across them. I missed the spring selling season abut am still looking for a board. Last time I was looking for a board I went to <a href="http://www.snowboardreviews.com/">http://www.snowboardreviews.com/</a> and looked at reviews there. That way you can at least have an idea if the board you're looking at is crap. The page hasnt improved in looks any in the last year so perhaps theres a more visually stimulating page somewhere on the net that does snowboard reviews.

I went to Atomic Garage today and found a Burton Custom 156 for $264. They're selling it supposedly for "cost." Anyone know if it's a good deal, and if there are any crazy new technologies to be introduced for this winter?

MSRP for the 99/2000 model is $450

Usually you could pick up the board and Burton Freestyle bindings $450 in the stores.

If its a brand new 99/2000 its not a bad deal.
