so much for the cutie at work...

went to the yearly company get together at Tapworks tonight... only about 10 of us were there. Of course, i dont drink, so it wasnt much fun watching my co-workers get stupid fall-down drunk. We tried playing pool, but they had to make a speech before every shot, so one game took over an hour to finish....

so anyway... the girl i was interested in asking out was drinking every shot that people were buying (doing group shots) within two hours, she was so drunk se had to go puke.... on top of that, apparently when your drunk its ok to get friendly with married men and for the married men to get a little to friendly with the hot girl.

so basically, i was totally turned off by it. Hell, i dont know if i can respect her as much as i used to.

Most of them were too drunk to walk, much less drive home on teh ice-covered roads tonight. I did my best to make sure everyone had a ride home... I stayed an extra hour just sitting there waiting for her and her friend to get to feeling well enough to go home. The only thanks I got was from the bar-tend girl - handshake and all. So much for trying to be a good friend.

Well...even though they didn't care, it's nice that you actually cared that they were all able to get home in a safe manner. Good Job

i know how you feel man. i've been the sober guy that watches the other guys try to get the cute girl hammered but she just gets drunk and pukes before getting naked to the utter dismay of all the guys buying her drinks. then i feel bad and make sure nobody messes with her and she gets home ok.

Thanks Nano, not only did you maybe save their lives, but lives of innocent families. Way to go!!!

well, i did what i could. I'll know if they made it home ok on thursday i guess.

whats really funny is i can hang out with 2 or 20 of the people i ride motorcycles with, and not one of them will drink (not when on teh bikes at least) and we have a blast - theres never a dull moment for anyone. At least i've got one group of people i can hang with and have fun... I guess i'm thankfull to have found a good group of folks that dont seem to care if i'm a computer geek than can't wheelie or not heheh.

Don't worry about. You did a good thing. And who knows, maybe she was the wrong person to going for to begin with. Just hang with those that appreciate you. That's what friendship are all about.

A noble deed, indeed. But that was definitely the wrong situation to try to get noticed, especially if you were the sober one.

actually, i went to the party just to hang out with co-workers... and in the back of my mind i figured since they already had about 4 or 5 beers at work already, that they might need soemone to make sure they got home alright.

i was also interested in seeing how that girl was around other people in a non-work environment. I didnt like what i saw. She didnt get fun, she just got stupid enough to let people take advantage of her.

her friend (laotian girl, also very nice, and also a co-worker) actually drank less, held her liquor, stayed mostly sober, and avoided getting hit on (probably because the other girl was the fixation of all the guys present). Unfortunately this girl has a boyfriend currently.

Well, i'm glad i found out... I'm definitely interested in dating a girl thats only interested in goign out to clubs or bars and getting stupid drunk. Thats not my idea of fun.

Several things on my mind here lol
You shouldn't have to drink in order to have a good time...and I love watching other people drunk on their asses making fools of themselves...its incredibly funny...especially if they're the "cute, hot chic" ...which in turn would remind me of why I limit myself ...though I do drink, and have, a time or two, been past the limit lol...I will say, there is nothing worse than a drunken lush...
Drinking does have that knack for bringing out the "worst" in people
I say, if you really like her...give her another chance..it could have been the "christmas moment...the holiday spirit...the we're on vacation, lets let loose" syndrome...

Tell ya what..ask her out to a bar or a club..if the same scenario arises...dump her ass...because if she acts that way twice..its more than likely a hidden flaw you dont want to find out about later on in a relationship...lol
Its very commendable that you stayed to make sure everyone found their way..but if you stayed to get a thank you...you did it for the wrong reasons...though I would hope you didn't..remember...Drunken people can't think past finding their keys in their pockets..never mind thanking you for being a caring friend...

well, i was only going to stay an hour, but after seeing how drunk they were after an hour, i decided to stay and make sure everyone got home ok.

I think i lost the most respect for all the guys (married or not) there hitting on the girl.

but you are right... when my bosses soon-to-be brother in law fell of his chair trying to spit on the floor, i was laughing a bit (to myself).

    caribiner23's rules for company parties:

    1. Do not get "stupid fall-down drunk." People have been fired (or worse) for doing things that drinking seems to give them the excuse to do.

    2. See rule #1.

Everything can be cool in moderation. I've been to too many "parties" like nano's where people start doing Bad Things (TM) that result in Even Worse Things (TM).

Nano, serious kudos to you for keeping your head and caring about your coworkers.

As for the cute coworker, I would tread carefully. Part would depend on what you meant by "getting friendly with the married men." You could be dealing with someone who's just looking for attention and that spells (among other things) high-maintenance.
