Kitten Question
I have an 8 month old female kitten. I have had her for 5 months. She has tons of energy and loves to play.
I have been seriously considering getting another kitten because she seems to be bored a lot. So I have let it be known that I am sorta' looking for a friend for her.
Well, the other day, a friend of mine told me about this very friendly stray cat at the apartment complex where he lives. I told him to bring it over right away because snow was expected by that evening.
He brought this 10 month-1 year old male cat into the house. My cat was very curious, but the other cat did a lot of hissing. So after a few minutes of this, I put the new cat outside on the patio while I tried to figure what I was going to do.
There is a 3" gap under my storm door (next to my patio). My cat can crouch down and slightly see what is going on. Well, both cats were hissing at each other for about 5 minutes until I decided that it was probably freaking out my cat.
I called my mother and asked her to come over to see the new cat. She fell in love with it and presently is keeping him.
Here's what has happened since then: My cat is no longer sleeping at the end of the bed with me. It almost seems that she is trying to ignore me. On top of that, she got on my bed yesterday morning and urinated on it, not just a little but a lot.
I can't figure what's going on in her mind. Does she want a companion or is she mad at me for bringing in another cat? BTW, I had her spayed about 7 weeks ago.

Dude, sounds like the cat is pissed and still smells the other cat. If your cat was using the litter box up until now you definitely may have problems...

yes, the cat is pissed at you-and cats NEVER forget!..But, you can try and distract it with toys, catnip and fun things (like a NEW PUPPY FOR A FRIEND-BECAUSE KITTENS AND PUPPIES LOVE TO HANG OUT)..then clorox that litter box, and spray where that other cat was with some kind of citrus spray..hopefully, your cat will forget all about that evil stray you brought home.

I put clean sheets and a clean comforter on the bed and she has mellowed out today. So I think the worst is over.
So what do you think? Does it sound like my cat pretty much likes things the way they are? Or would she ever get along with another cat?
Also, I totally forgot about feline leukemia.
I think that the other cat was recently dumped, because it is extremely friendly. I can't imagine why someone would get rid of such a nice cat.

Good for you !!!! The smell , I'm sure had a lot to do with things...I hope it works out...as far as your last statement goes...People are so irresponsible. You'd be horrified as to what people do with cats...animals in general...The novelty wears off, and when the animals grow past the "cute" stage...or overstay their welcome...its out you go...
Your cat is lucky she has you...cause I tell ya, if my dog ever purposely urniated on my pillow..
