    Computer problems-Need help!

I just installed Windows 98 on my computer and the computer keeps locking up. It doesn't have a set time when it does it, it just locks up. Anyways, I also have a couple of other problems. What is the PCI Bridge? I am looking in Device Manager and I have a yellow flag on PCI Bridge because I don't know what it is so I don't know what driver to look for. ?? Also, I'm trying to use the onboard sound right now, but I have a yellow flag up on "Wave Device for Voice Modem". Is this sound card related or something? I downloaded the drivers for my modem from Creative and the modem works fine and I can look under Modem and see that the modem is there and that "This device is working properly", but that other part boggles me.... Any suggestions on all of this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Here is something that might help you with the "Wave Device for Voice Modem": http://808hi.com/56k/wave.asp

As for the PCI Bridge, you may need to install your motherboard's chipset drivers, such as those available from VIA or Intel depending on your motherboard/processor.

Yeah...like seqiro said, if you have a VIA chipset on your motherboard you need to make sure that you install the 4in1 drivers. You can get them directly off the VIA website.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

I had similar problems with the via chip set and windows 98 when I first put mine together. I do believe that the 4in1 driver did the trick. Of course that was only one of my problems, I also had a bad stick of memory from crutial which they exchanged with no problem.

Well I tested the memory and it's fine. I also have another hard drive(2.5gb, yay...) that I can use to test and see if my hard drive is messing up. I found the Via 4-in-1 drivers off of the FIC website. I have an FIC AZ11e motherboard. I like the board so far. It beats the hell out of that onboard video celeron crap setup I had before. I am going to install the Via drivers and see what happens. Sachin- I have the Creative DI-5630-4 Modem Blaster. Good thing Creative has good driver support, I was able to get the drivers off their site no problem. Thanks for all of your help. You've been really helpful!
