I'd pay an extra 7 cents and use http://www.godaddy.com

I don't think GoDaddy has free url forwarding either.

I use registerfly ($10/yr) because I'm a newb and they have live 24/7 chat help.

OK, I use Dotster since they are fairly inexpensive and give me the functions and support that I need. $15 isn't bad considering I get awesome support from these people. I don't think there is a perfect registrar. I goes by what you are looking for. I used namecheap and moved to Dotster since I don't use the registrars DNS servers for anything. Dotster lets me mail forward WITHOUT using their DNS servers. My DNS servers are with dyndns.org since all their stuff is free. ( Well not really one time fee of $30/domain and nothing more ever ) and their servers are always up and very fast. I've registered with registers with terible domain dervers and it slows everything down.
Like I said... It's what you do with your domain and how much it's worth to you.

sorry a question for the newbie..
approx. $10 a year for the domain registration and hosting fee is charged seperately, right?

    I use ICDsoft.com
5 for domain and 5 a month.. comes to 65 a year. not sure if it's that competitive at all..
