    Question Direct Connect problem

I have a DC hub set up. People can log in, they show up in the user list, but they cannot browse files. I can see it trying to download their file list, but it doesn't download. I've tried both Active and Passive modes. Port 412 is open on the router. Any ideas?

It's a program that you can find *i think* at www.neomodus.net or www.neomodus.com

OC, I'm not too sure. It can be a problem on their side. I've experienced times when I cannot even download the file list to browse. DC won't work too well if both sides are on passive. Perhaps they can try to re-install it? Though I believe the best person to ask about this is slaw.

if you are behind a firewall and the user is in passive mode then they can't download from you. It's their problem not yours. You may have been connected by a buncha passive users recently.

Use www.whatismyip.com to make sure DC is routing traffic to the right IP.

I discovered that whenever my house loses power and the cable modem restarts, I get a new IP, so I have to change settings.

You've got a dynamic IP Not all people have dynamic IP's. But yeah, make sure its routed to the correct IP (on your DC settings, and router).

Apparently. I get >1 MB/sec on a cable modem, with ping times near 50ms on many UT servers, for $30 a month...I'm not complaining.
