It will work whether you purchase the drive online or BM. Both rebates goes to two different PO Box.

Box only has one UPC code

By coincidence, I purchased this drive last week and was just about to send in the Staples rebate. How do I send in for both rebates when I only have one UPC code on the box? Thank you MisterX

Also how do you figure $30? I can only find a $15 off $100 coupon. The price would then be 110-15-30-30=$35. Not that $5 will kill me just wondering if maybe you had a $20 off code or something.

    Thanks

Notice on the Staples rebate form highlighted in red color

Your Staples sales receipt is required to process this rebate.

    And also
    To Receive Rebate:
    1. Print and Fill Out Form
    2. Include UPC and Sales Receipts in an envelope

It didn't mention if you must have an original. You should be safe using a copy of the UPC

  7. #7
I called Staples Rebate Center and they said it was OK to send in copies of UPC. If anyone wants to call to confirm, their number is 888-241-6208.

I just got a Maxtor 160GB (8MB) from CompUSA last week and I'm itching for two of these 80GB drives (RAID0). Right now I have 3 hard drives {160GB Maxtor, 120GB WD (SE), and 40GB IBM (DeathStar)} but soon enough one of these drives will go to my new Dell, which has a 60GB in there.

i know the po boxes are different #s (they're VERY close though). it's weird because both rebates seem VERY similar, i don't know if that will work. i also couldn't get the above coupons going. i check another link off of the deals page for staples that had 15$ off 75$ order, it came to taking off 20$.

SO, even if both rebates don't work, 60$ for an 80gig HD isn't that bad of a deal at all

Alright, screw it.. I'm in.. Although I clearly don't need it, it's just too good to pass up.

NOTHING BUT LUCK FOR ME TODAY. LIKE THE MOVIE WITH RICHARD DRYFUSS CALLED "ON THE NOSE" about a betting bumb who just can't do anything wrong, he was haveing a really good day. Well so am I.

I fell into this one by accident. I ordered it last week, order cancelled because they were out of stock, but they credited me the $20 coupon for a deal that never happened. Staples called, it was back in stock, this time I used a $10 coupon and there is a $30 rebate from staples. I did the rebate, sealed the envelope but in my normal procrastination, never mailed it. Now I see MisterX deal, I fall in all the dates, I called Staples, they said I can use copies for everything so it appears I'm also getting Maxtors rebate so an extra $30 rebate. A little confusing for me to figure, but I think my net cost is net profit of $10 because I fell between the slots, just pure luck and MisterX help. I could never repeat this again. I hope it goes through but as someone said if it won't go through, a drive like this for $60 is great.

OK, got mine too. Too good to pass up even though I don't "NEED" another HD at this exact moment...

Sucks, though, that there are no Staples in Hawaii (or Best Buy, or Fry's... ) but I thought it was strange that Staples online didn't even give me the option of having it shipped here...Oh well, having it mailed to my parents in MN so it's all good. Just makes the rebate thing a little more of a hassle, that's all.

    $30 for an 80 Gig 8MB cache--awesome! Thanks MysterX!

<edit: it was out of stock all day for me, was in stock tonight, so keep trying!>

Staples typically takes copies of UPC codes.

    hmmmm

Did you guys notice that the staples rebate form says not valid with any other rebates, offers, and promotions.
The kicker is that the address on both the Maxtor and Staples forms is sent to the same city and state, they are probably a couple P.O. boxes down from each other. These are going to be processed by the same rebate people. I seriously doubt we're going to see both $30 rebate checks, but it is worth a shot and the drive is worth $60 anyway.

The one thing that bugs me is that although it has an 8 meg buffer it still only has a 1 year warranty. I like how the WD SE have the 3 year warranty. I have 2 Maxtor HDs in my computer right now and I have sent both of them back to get replaced at one point. They are really good about doing the replacement though.

Haha, did not think people still talked in mb. It is roughly $0.50 a gig if you have to pay tax like me. Or it will be about $0.875 a gig if the second rebate does not come in (not so great anymore).

I can beat that...I remember paying about $200 for a 3 gig hard drive when 3 gigs was considered outlandishly large. I still have that drive and the receipt. I had to partition it because my bios didnt even support drives that large.

Ah the idiocy of youth with more money than sense. I went in to get a larger HD and a new vid card, ended up spending close to $400 on the two things....this was to upgrade my $3000 Gateway P60 with flawed pentium chip. I just had to be on the cutting edge of everything back then.

UPC not required on Staples rebate

Take a good look at the rebate form that prints out at Staplesrebates.com for this drive. #2 - Attach the following proof of purchase to this form: - Staples Store Receipt.

Not a word about a UPC. It seemed too strange so I called them and got the same story: "For this rebate no UPC is required"

Here's hoping I get both rebates!

  25. #25
dumb question, but i've never done rebates for things i've bought online before... is the receipt considered the thing they send me in the email, or that piece of paper that comes in the shipping box (happily marked "not an invoice" in big red letters)
    Have a groovy day!

Am I the only one who can't get Staples coupons to work?

I type in the 5 digit code, and then it asks for a 16 digit coupon code. What's the trick??

    Thanks for the help!
