United - Free Luggage Tags / Up to 9K+ Elite Qualifying Miles

A "fax" way to get more miles —
    and enjoy more elite benefits.

Register first by clicking the link below, and receive two free luggage tags personalized with your name and Mileage Plus number.

Fax us up to three frequent flier statements from other airlines and get 3,000 Elite Qualifying Miles per statement.

Fly. Earn 2,000 bonus miles that qualify toward elite status for every incremental United and United Express® segment you fly between May 15 and August 15, 2003.

Besides the other Premier benefits, at my local airport, you can cut to the front of the security line if you are premier level. With the 9K above you only need 16K miles for Premier level.

    This looked great at first.

THEN I WONDERED WHY THE LINK WASN'T ON UNITED'S SITE.....

So, I checked to see when the site was registered and by who (see below)Hmm, wonder why United didn't register it...

I'd bet ya all a whole quarter that if you sign up for this then you'll be getting a BOATLOAD of SPAM and no FF#'s. He may even do other dishonest stuff. I'd avoid..

I received an email from UA (yes, it could have been spoofed) with a url that filled out my full name, email address and frequent flyer number on the form.

I just put the main web page address for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll contact united and let you know what I find.

Anyone knows what 9000 miles will get you (other than travel obviously)?

I looked around a little, I'm not sure but it looks like all you get is 9000 miles that together with 16000 paid miles in a calender year will give you Elite status.

i haven't flown united in 8 years i think. most of my miles are now on continental. I think i have about 50,000 with them and 8,000 with delta

Sometimes on the free magazine subscription sites, they'll have an oftion for free WallStreet Journal and other stuff you can get for miles. Sometimes you can redeem for discounts or vouchers for the united presidents club lounge. Although it's a bit tricky to get these sometimes.

Grey Direct E.Marketing is a division of the largest independent advertising agency in the country (and one of the largest, if not the largest, in the world) . . . Grey Worldwide . . . it is a very reputable agency and probably is working as United's representative.

I use the UA credit card. You get 15,000 miles for signing up. The business version gives you 2 miles for every $1 spent.

I guess it still seems a little fishy since the website was just registered. I scourered the UAL website and didn't find anything that pointed to this either.

    Mileage Plus Wooing Elites
    (Posted: Apr 28, 2003)

Premier United Mileage Plus members can earn as many as 29,000 elite qualifying miles with United's latest offer.

    Here's the deal:

Premier members can earn 3,000 elite qualifying miles just for faxing Mileage Plus one of their frequent flyer statements from a competing program.

Members will earn 2,000 bonus miles that qualify toward elite status for every incremental United segment (more segments in offer period versus 01/03-03/03) they fly between May 15 and August 15, 2003.

And perhaps best of all, members will receive two free personalized luggage tags just for registering for this promotion.

The only downside, the 3,000 elite qualifying miles will not count for award redemption, they will only count towards elite qualification.

This offer is only available to Premier members, who should be receiving personal emails or letters within the next few days. To register for the promotion, qualified members can go to http://www.unitedgreatoffer.com/.

It's certainly nice to see Mileage Plus getting back in the game after experiencing several months of negativity.

We're sure their members are happy also.
