it's the end of the world as we know it

how do you think the world is gonna end and when?

nuclear winter? a plague? the sun burning out? alien invasion? there are a lot of scenerios, but what do you think will happen?

after you post your thought go here for a bunch of means to the end.

Anyway, my personal opinion is that the world ends when it ends. Although, it may not end. It isn't likely, but it is possible.

Everyone just thinks that everything has to come to an end.

A plague, or another dominant species kills us off.

well the end of the world will probably come from some sort of cosmic event, giant asteroid, sun goes pop, etc.

End of the human race will either come from us destroying ourselves, a plague or disease type scenario, or Artifical Intelligence taking over and enslaving us... oh wait, just watched the new animatrix

Actually I believe the world as we know it will end after we as a people come together to marvel in our own creation of AI. Upon this an entire race of thinking machines will be born and will gain sentience. When that occurs a great war between humanity and the machines will occur and ultimately we will have to darken the sky to keep them from using sunlight as their energy source. The machines will adapt and imprison humanity in a cybernetic hell in which we will essentially become a thermal-electric power source for them. What is left of humanity is deep underground where it is still warm. They will try to fight the machines and stop them and free humanity from their virtual prison and eventually one will return who will be able to fight the machines from inside and... oh wait... I was just watching The Matrix again and.. *nevermind*

Actually the harbinger of the beginning of the end will be when Carrottop runs for the Senate - he will then quickly rise in the Senate to Chancellor (after a vote of no-confidence) and then aquire emergency powers to deal with a rebellion started by clones developed by...

ahh forget it - Mars will finally attack us after they finally get pissed off about all the probes landing on their planet and decide to give us a little payback.

Dammit, I just killed an hour on that site! Go Grey Goo!

Hyped up, and the research wasn't exactly scientific ("Hundreds of millions of people were killed in the Black Plague!"), but entertaining stuff, no doubt.

I think the world will end because of man make disaster. Like
pollution or over deforestation and run out of natural resource to sustain the over population.....my 1.5 cents

The world will end once the Sun, at the end of its life, swells up and engulfs the inner planets. In the meantime, we may get knocked around by an asteroid or two which could really screw with life on Earth or humanity will unleash some super weapon which will obliterate everything except cockroaches and Keith Richards.

In any event (except possibly the last one), none of us will be around to see it.

But by then, won't we have the technology to move and teraform a planet or moon. I think le stick is on the right track.
It's good to know that there WILL BE AN END.

Like Topane said, the world will eventually be engulfed by teh sun, but I believe that the human race will either have colonized space by then or logn since died out. Either way: we won't be here to see the end of the Earth.

I'm suprised that no one has said anything about Jesus coming back again.
Oh well. And by end of the world do we mean end of humans or end of Earth?

Well..he will come back. And depending upon what belief that one has regarding his arrival, the world as we know it will be destroyed within 3-1/2 to 7 years of his arrival. Right after that, the earth will be transformed and last for a thousand years.
After the thousand year period, a new heaven and a new earth will be formed, which will then last for eternity.
The Book of Revelations has this information if you want to examine it for yourself.
