I stumbled across this and it sees too good to be true. You just have to qualify and maintain your printing amount. It may be spam, so be forewarned.

1. you have to buy all your ink from them at inflated prices (they check this based on the number of pages you print)
2. If you don't buy as much ink as you initially said you would then they hit you with a fee.
My understanding it's not a bad deal, but the printer definatly doesen't end up free, but it's similar price to a business lease.
nah...I hardly buy any color ink from them. I dont get chaged a fee. And black ink is free. Well sort of, gotta pay shipping, but hey, 6-9 blocks of black for 7 bux aint bad! It's not really a lease, since after 3 years, the printer is yours. Im on my 3rd, after this year, the printer is mine![]()
Where did you see that the black ink was free? Thanks.
Hey shock32638,
I'm on my 3rd year as well. Any good 3rd party sources for the solid ink? I'm think about adding more memory after the contract expires, how about you?

Ummmm, I think the songs are in this new format called MP3 that just came out like yesterday. Got Sr Member?
What kind of numbers did you people supply them as far as amounts printed?
Just don't lie on your application, they choose who they'll give the printers to based upon your estimated useage, and charge you if you don't live up to it.
(From their web page)
...
If your office falls short of your requirement in a given month, your organization will incur a $100 fee (billed to your credit card), ...
...
The Phaser color printer has a built-in reporting system, which contains a usage summary. We ask that you print it out and fax it to us monthly. If you do not send a report, your organization will incur a $125 fee for that month only.
I should also mention that I havn't done this, but I know a guy who did it, and loved the results, I just mentioned the couple of gotchas that you've got to agree to to get the "free" printer
I'm in my third year with the paser 860 and have been enjoying the printer. The solid inks are expensive, $200+ for 5 sticks of one color. However, when you add it all up, its no more expensive than an HP color Laser to run. Plus for the first three years its under a service contract with freecolor printers in case the unit breaks down.
Just remember to fax over your usage report on the day they specify! (If its a weekend they give you a couple grace days..)
I missed one month and they billed my card, but after a call and a fax of my usage report they let me slide...
This seems ripe for abuse... You could commit to, say, 2000 pages of color and the day before you're report is due you could print out the "balance" of your contract with minimal color coverage (say, the letter X in three colors). That would count as a color page, but would use virtually no ink... Then you could print out the small number of full color pages that you really need. hmmm..
They do a background check on your company. Remember they pick and choose who gets the printer. We tried to get a second one and they denied us!
to those of you who gotten the printer, did you enter you Federal Employee ID Number? and what did you put down for the section that says: "Please tell us more about your organization and how you plan to use this printer (300 character max):"
On the fact that its ONE free printer per company.
well I'm sure the ink is way overpriced
DO NOT, under any circumstances, use third-party solid ink in these Xerox printers!!! It will screw them up, resulting in a repair charge around $1,000, and it is NOT covered under warranty. This has been reported in many places.
We have one (bought, not through this deal) and are very happy with it. We did some comparisons between the Xerox laser and the Xerox solid-ink and liked the solid ink better. The only real difference we noted was in transparencies. With the solid ink, you could scrape the ink off with youf fingernail, if you REALLY tried, while you could not with the laser.
And, yeah, the ink is on the high side of the price scale, but after all, you ARE getting the printer free! At worst, it is like an interest-free financing plan!
