    Damn Bullpen!!

ARGH! So Clemens was denied AGAIN!!

But, on the bright side, the MOMENT that ball went over the wall, I hopped on-line and bought tix for Friday's game against St. Louis (Probably Clemens' next start).

Actually got much better tix than I was expecting to be available - Tier Box Row D right past 1st base.

Crossing my fingers he gets the win and I can be there for #300 AND the 4,000th K (Only 4 more to go).
I used to be into sadism, necrophilia and beastiality, but then I realized I was just beating a dead horse

Might want to get tickets for Saturday too:

"Torre isn't sure when Clemens will make his fourth try for 300. The schedule indicates next Friday in New York against St. Louis.

But Torre indicated that Clemens' physical condition might push him back until Saturday's game against the Cardinals. If Clemens was pushed back one day, he would then be on track to face the Mets on June 20 at Shea Stadium rather than getting a home start against Tampa Bay June 19."

IMO Torre hasnt been much of a manager this year, hes made minor mistakes that have cost the yanks quite a few games, including a few that clemens and mussina have pitched.. ive watch just about every game they have played this year (thank you baseball package ) and once they came back to earth from that strech of winning they jsut, well suck...

    Looks like Saturday's sold out.

Either way, I'm taking my stab with Friday night. I knew it was a bit of risk when I picked up the tix . . . this week we could easily have a rain out or anything to postpone his start, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Also, putting on my Torre hat on, I kind of doubt that he would push Roger back a day. Torre tends to do all he can not to disrupt his rotation, and pushing Roger back a day would mean either pushing EVERYONE else back a day also and having someone outside the rotation start (Weaver?) . . . or switching Roger's start with someone else in the rotation (Pettitte?) meaning Pettitte would have to go on short rest.

I think/hope he'll pitch Roger on Friday . . . just might mean keeping him on a short leash.

Thanks . . . would definitely be a treat . . . even if he didn't get the win, it would be great to be there while he was trying for it.

I'm a diehard Yankee fan but I've been puzzled by some of Torre's moves this year.

Of all the choices to bring in on saturday against the cubs. Why Juan Acevedo? Did I miss something? Is Osuna hurt? Acevedo has been lit up all year.

Even tonights game was puzzling. Posada singles to drive in two runs in the top of the ninth inning with one out. He doesnt pinch run for posada until after Ventura flies out. I know Charles Gipson eventually gets picked off but if you're going to pinch run why not earlier in the inning.

I guess George has Torre on edge or something.

AWESOME!! Couldn't have asked for it to be any better . . . well, except for maybe some better weather . . . it was pretty miserable out there.

But damn if it wasn't perfect.

I'll be holding on to that ticket stub for the rest of my life.

Oh man that is so awesome. Congrats buddy. You got any plans to frame it? Maybe with the sports page for the NY Times saying he did it, with your ticket underneath?

    Anyways, cheers!

Didn't the Padres promise the San Diego voters that they would have a competetive team to open the new stadium next year? They are going for the futility (loss) record this year. But like the header in this thread says, it is the relievers that are the big problem righn now.

The Padres definitely suck this year, but if you are a real baseball fan you can see that there is some good things happening on the club. We all knew that the Padres weren't going to be a contender until next year, but were hoping they might be able to pull something out of their butt, but injuries to their two best players(Hoffman and Nevin have not played a game this year) combined with their inexperience has knocked them out of contention already.

    However...

Xavier Nady is a strong contender for Rookie of the Year

Oliver Perez recently came back from the minors to throw a shutout against the White Sox.

Phil Nevin is expected to come back from an injury that was supposed to put him out the whole year. Even if he doesn't come up to full form, it will be good to rehab him this year instead of expecting him to do it all next yaer.

Trevor Hoffman will be back after the All Star Break. Same as above.

Mark Loretta has found his swing, and batted something like .500 last month

Jay Whitasik back from surgery and throwing well again.

Those are just a few. So they have a ****ty record this year it doesn't matter to me. I am a die hard fan and I haven't lost interest in the team, especially when they have such young talent and potential.

I like to think of this year as an "extended preseason" for next year

That's what Tampa Bay's been thinking and they've been in an "extended preseason" for about 6 years now

Thanks much! . . . For now, the ticket stub will just stay pressed and clean somewhere. I'd love to get it autographed at some point . . . so if I hear about Clemens signing sometime, I might have to go get it signed and then I'll think about some way to display it.

I've always been one to let memories suit me just fine . . . and this memory will definitely last a looooong time!

(Although, I know my mother actually held on to the NY Times Sports page . . . so maybe at some point, I will end up with it framed with the ticket)
