In the Sunday Staples ad they currently have a deal if you buy the Soundblaster Live! X-Gamer for $99.98 and the Creative Labs PCworks Speaker System for $49.97, you get a rebate for $49.97, I think you have to go to the store for the form they don't have it on their site. Which means the speakers are free. Go order it online and add the SKU's 396620 and 906398 plus another item that is over $.05, i.e. rubber bands $0.24, PLY12385, then use the coupon for $30 off $150, 86388. So your total after everything is about $70 for BOTH!

I would jump on this deal if this were an MP3+ version. But I find no real value in the X-Gamer besides the games it includes which i don't really want. The MP3+ on the other hand has software I can use and a chip to encode MP3's faster.

Great deal though for those looking into the X-gamer.

Are you sure that the x-gamer doesn't have the same mp3 (de)coding abilities?

i've heard they're (e.g. x-gamer, mp3, etc.) all the same card, the only difference is: if software comes with it and what the software is.

Actually the mp3+ x-gamer and platinum are all the same, however, the card does encode mp3s faster, something like 5x faster, but this is no big deal as you can likely get the software from your friend and use it on any of the 3 cards mentioned above

The x-gamer and MP3+ are the EXACT SAME card, except for the software bundle. There is no special "chip to encode MP3's faster." I have the x-gamer, but if I did it all over again, I'd get the MP3+. However, the card is still awesome, and you can find similar encoding software out there.

    Thumbs down

I just checked on this one. The speaker set is out of stock on the website.
