So why is it that I have a hard time going up and asking girls out or anything of the sort? Freakishly enough there is a girl that works at Costco who I think is pretty cute. I've talked to her once while I was leaving. She asked me about the 3 bottles of wine I was buying and if it was any good and that the bottle was cool looking. Maybe she thought I had an alcohol problem. So I had 2 perfect set ups, and I took advantage of none of them. I ended up telling her about the wine and ended with my usual have a great day. So needless to say I feel dumb and dejected. So why...any hints...

heres my advice: Diversify

When you feel like theres only one person/chance, you get nervous since your taking a risk. If you feel like there are more people out there, you won't care and will be more relaxed. So go out, talk to more girls for the sake of talking, without alterior motives. I bet you'll have an easier time aproaching her if you do this.

yeah I don't have the guts either to ask girls out. it's easier if you just shoot the breeze and not try so hard or at all. that way it's a good setup.

compliment her, not in a cheesy or perverted way though. hair, smile, eyes...whatever stands out.

This is way back when I was single and shy and never really had a gf before I met her. I didn't have any guts back then and I don't have any right now. I'm just less shy and friendly with people now.

Or when they aren't hitting on you and you think they are...that gets you laughed at pretty quick.

I have no problem talking to girls in a friendly context, its the split second when I think hey, shes really cute that I become a complete idiot. It's just a mental thing with me. I have a lot of female friends that I just talked to randomly and now they are my friends.

i have thee same problem - i've been trying harder to be more talkative...

my first try turned out to be a call girl (the one in vegas in the motorcycle)

just saturday i tried to strike up a conversation with an attendant at teh gas station i was getting gas at... She was pretty cute, and i had talked myself out of trying anything, but the next thing i knew i was askign her what time she got off / if she wanted to go riding etc... turns out she was afraid of motorcycles, but still, i actually tried

little by little. maybe even try talking to random girls that aren't so cute - that way it'll be easier when you do find someone cute - you'll know what to say.... and, you never know, you might like one of those other girls you didnt think you would.

Like all the rest of your female friends? I mean we have all met and made friends that are both women and men.. So why should meeting a new girl be any different? Your long term goals may be different with a cute girl.. or short term but shouldn't you be able to approach any one the same way... A traditional hi, hows it going kinda thing? I guess i always try to take 5 minutes when i meet someone to get a basic feel for them and then decide if they are someone i would want to date... I dont know.. i will try anything once..
and as for asking a girl out.. even if i know thats my sole purpose for talking to this girl.. i always think.. ok i dont know her.. whats the worst that can happen.. in five minutes i know her name and that she doesn't want to date me or in five minutes.. i got a date... It doesn't seem that bad, that even if she says no.. you haven't really lost anything...
Just a thought hopefully that will inspire..
