    Hows this...

    Here are my specs...

    WESTERN DIGITAL "SPECIAL EDITION" 120GB 7200RPM
    MSI Motherboard for Socket A Processor Model# K7T TURBO2
    AMD ATHLON XP 2600 /333 FSB PROCESSOR
    Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! Dolby Digital 5.1 SB0220
    GAINWARD GeForce 4, 8X AGP. Ti 4200, 3.6ns, 128MB
    Lite On 52x24x52 CDRW

    just need a case and I'm done...if any suggestions about changes please list.

    First, you have no ram there. If you are not OCing then get pc2700, if you are OCing then use 3200 or higher.

    Second, I don't know about that MSI mobo. The nforce2 chipset winners are the Asus or Abit. Unless you are getting a great deal on the MSI I really think you should reconsider your choice there.

    Um....I think the pc2700 vs pc3200 point is moot. That mobo only supports PC133. Actually, I don't think it'll support the fsb of your processor. Unless someone is giving it to you or you already own it, you should consider getting something else. I'm running one now, and it is soon to be replaced. I've never had any problems with it and its a good board, but it is just old.

    Yeah that VIA Apollo KT133A mobo is old news.

    You can use the integrated nForce 2 mobo sound and not buy that mediocre Live soundcard.

    Seems like you are trying to $ave money. If thats the case why go with Corsair which tends to cost more? Geil is iffy. OCZ can shove itself. I'd look at Crucial {good service}, Kingston or true Samsung ram.

    if I was to go with kingston ram, which should I get?

    is it KINGSTON HyperX Series 184-pin 512MB Kit (2x 256MB) DDR333 (PC2700) DDR RAM modules?

    Its seems like its the right one. Cause its only $112

    The K7T TURBO2 is a 333mhz Board.. not a 133.. You are thinking of the OLD K7T .. they talk about that.. and people confusing them.. but its not an old board.. Just so ya know

    Even if its a 333fsb board I still wouldnt get it.

    1. Its VIA. VIA boards have problems. Get an nforce2 board, they are rock solid stable.

    2. Nforce2 boards have onboard sound, so you can save money by not buying a mediocre sound card. They have onboard lan too, so thats another less thing to buy.

    3. Kingston ram is fine. Just dont buy PNY or some other crap.

    4. Even if teh Asus, Abit or Epox board costs you $50 - $90 more I would pay it. The motherboard is teh most important component and the one you should skimp least on.

    For about $15 cheaper, you may want to consider going for the 2500+ Barton core CPU. In benchmarks, it can beat out the 2600+ in a number of the tests plus the higher core frequency (I think that's right), but if you do, pick up an ASUS A7N8X mobo for it

    And if you want to do some friendly overclocking, the 2500+ does clock pretty well from what I hear.

    I might consider the 2500+ because its cheaper. So everything else is good right?

    If I get with the 2500+ my new total price will be around $630. But the problem is I'm not really a overclocker. If I am going to overclock, about how much percent gain would i get.

    with everyone saying I should go with the 2500+. I really might consider dropping the extra 30 dollars to get it. Because they are only 30 dollars difference between the 2600+ and the 2500+.

    prices for AMD will drop pretty soon. Just wait till Mid August or September if your going to go with AMD. Thats just my opinion.
