Night before a test: study or sleep?

    The obvious answer is sleep

But it's 12:43am and my test is at 8am. I need more time to understand diodes (mostly understand em), Zener diodes, voltage regulators, and I'm just about to go over transistors, the second half of the test, which I'm not bad at. Summer school really crams the information in fast! About 5-6 hours of sleep should be good for me tonight.

Have you ever sacrificed sleep for studying, and did anything exceptionally good or bad come out of it worthy of posting?
    And closer...

"did i ever sacrifice sleep for studying?"

a more appropriate question might be, "did i ever sacrifice studying for sleep?"

i pulled more all-nighters than i care to count. basically, i'm a complete procrastinator, so i'd put off studying till the last minutes. however, usually the all-nighters were for papers/projects.

tests, i tended to study until 1 or 2 and then cram in the morning just before the exam.

as for notable outcomes: one time, the night before i had to present my senior capstone research paper, i was of course running majorly behind. about 4 am, i started puking. i don't know if it was nerves, or if i was actually sick. anyway, i puked for awhile and then went back to work.

there were many occasions when i would grab a catnap on the kitchen floor. the linoleum (sp?) is pretty hard and cold and you can't sleep long there (vs. the couch, where you can easily fall asleep and be out for the night).

Hey it's all about 80:20. 80 % of the value of studying is in 20% of it. So study the most important 20% and then sleep. Honestly you'll do better for the sleep you get.
