I got a new Media PC

Well not really, but I used the bert and ernie font hack on my xbox to get EvoX running with Xbox Media Player. It's really cool, I just stream everything from my PC over the network. Anyone else have any experience with this?

I believe you are wrong. It plays DivX, XviD, 3ivx, VCD, SVCD, DVD, it will open the BIN files of the vcd on my computer and read those. It will play mp3, aac, wma, wave, midi, jpg, gif, png, tga, basically any format you throw at it. I'm very happy with it.

Do you know of any good links to mod my xbox?
I know about xbox-scene, but I need step by step instructions.
    Basically I need to:
-find out what version of xbox I have
    -find the best no-solder chip
-find out how to make it play all media..divx, etc.
-find out how to "back-up" my games on to the hard drive

I actually didnt put in a modchip. I used an exploit designed to get linux running on an unmodded xbox using a bug in the dashboard. Info here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.p...T&f=45&t=79558

Did you do it yourself Chris? Im thinking of going this route. I'm just scared I might scre things up. If it's too complicated I might just go get it done with smokeingit. How long did it take?

It took a good few hours. You really just need to have the files. Getting EvoX up and going was the easy part. I then had to find the software, like XBMP, and then once I had that on there, I couldn't get it installed. The problem was that my XBEs weren't signed. Used the keysigner thingy that I found and it all worked like a charm. It's not that hard, and if something gets screwed up, just run the 007 trick again.

One thing I want to make absolutely clear to anyone wanting to try this... BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM FIRST. When you get the 007 exploit running go into the system tools menu and hit backup. Then FTP into the box and copy the BACKUP folder to a safe place on your computer. I can't stress this enough.

when the first hacked firmwares came out i went out and bought a eeprom programmer and chipped my xbox so i could run programs like this. MAN was it a bitch to solder on the motherboard!
Its great to see how far they've come.
