I recently installed redhat 6.2 on an older HD, and once I get it up and configured (apparently correctly), I FTP'd in to it from my win98 box. At first when I hit the IP with an IE browser, I get the "IT WORKED" screen saying the web server is up, however, when I replace Index.htm (the apache one) with the new one (mine, via ftp from 98 box), I suddenly get page not found, and errors in the HTTP service on boot and shutdown. It points to errors in the httpd.conf file, but nothing has changed. The only thing that changes is the file which is FTP'd up. Any clue? [clarilied version]

I don't fully understand the problem. But if you read through the httpd.conf file it explains how to configure everything quite easily.
